COuple of things the DA has done this election that I don't like:
1) unsolicited phone calls, asking who you're going to vote for
2) sending me a campaigning sms, after I told them on the phone cal to remove my details from their campaign lists. Worse: at 4:30 in the morning. Even worse: it was the morning after voting day.
3) having people outside the only entreance to the voting station, asking people for their ID books, and complaining when I told them that as they aren't IEC reps I'm not required to show them my id book.

I think they're a good party, but their campaign tactics are aweful, and could put a lot of people off voting for them.

Yeah, they do like to spam :/ But then again, I can't comment on the other parties, 'cause I made sure they don't have my information.

Maybe they are worse?

I'd prefer being bugged every 5 years, to almost daily calls from Autopage, Nashua mobile, Virgin mobile and Cell C asking me if I want I frikkin contract.

Nope, I didn't give ANYONE my details, they got it from the voter's roll. And they must be getting cellphone numbers from somewhere else, because I didn't give the IEC that number when I registered.

I gave no one my details and I got calls and sms's from them!Gave them a piece of my mind.

DA spams what once every 5 years...? its really nothing, so dont get your panties in a knot.
I frankly didnt mind them, DA needs to get the word out, yes they may not be the best party but they will take the majority from the ANC which is key at this point.

Complain about spam from vodacom, or banks, or wateva stupid service you once applied to, not the DA's spam... its stupid..

Never thought I would see the day that spamming is condoned. :D

+1

But if spamming every 5 years causes you to change your mind you did not really want to vote for that party.

It indicates how they feel about spam, and their likelihood to support legislation against it. It also indicates their approach to privacy.

And expecting you to tell them who you're voting for makes a mockery of the whole secret ballot concept.

So of course it matters.

Never been bugged by the DA and only received some spam mail in the post, but then most of the parties did that. After looking through the long list of parties on the ballot, I only heard of 6 or 7 of those parties and those were the ones advertising or sending spam ;)

At least it's a decent way. They could have tried to bribe you with food.

Yes because the Baffoons we have now does not like spam but rape, murder and corruption is ok with them.

Great going :)

hopefully you will have the same attitude when the ANC does it in 5 years time

Get a life man - the DA is desperate to help this country escape the grips of the ruling incompetents. While spam is not the most agreeable method, at least it's in your face and gets people talking and worked up. Yes, it's not perfect, but you can't turn around and say they didn't advertise enough.

I received 5 sms's in the last month, 2 yesterday. I don't mind because it is for a good cause. But even one sms from a spammer trying to sell me crap causes my blood to boil. Voting is free, and so is your right to not vote for the DA. But even if 1% of people were encouraged by the smses, it was worth the minor 5 second inconvenience of a spammy sms i didn't need to read.

Have heard the ANC did the same thing with phone calls and sms's. Not like the Da is the only party doing this...got 2 sms's from "Helen Zille" yest...didnt bother me. Guess its down to personal feelings / opinions here...

What violates your rights more.... DA being pesky or the Ruling party sending this country down the drain and allowing murderers and rapist to walk freely amongst us....

What would you rather get a phone call from the DA or a rapist at your bedside one night?

still doesn't mean an indiviual's privacy rights shoudl be ignored as a result.
