You're talking about children though, they don't have the same right to autonomy that an adult does. Unless you're emancipated in court you don't get to make your own decisions as a child.

Also vaccinations don't have the stigma that HIV status does in this country so there is no real negative.

No they do not have to have a HIV test.
I was under the impression it was mandatory since they use it as a the base of stats.

I don't know but I know there have been studies done around giving ARVs to bring the viral load down and CD4 count up just ahead of the due date and that had a significant effect on HIV mother to child transmission rates.

It makes sense that the choice should be the parents'. They are the legal guardians.

Sucks and is stupid but the same applies to those whackjobs that won't accept blood transfusions.

That's also why it's taken so seriously. It can spread so widely without the victims even knowing about it.

Yup if anything AIDS is worse than airborne diseases because you can easily detect airborne diseases and control them. AIDS silently infects all those people who love their rights and freedoms. Tracking HIV/AIDS is near impossible actually.

That is why i still maintain you should have to have your status papers before you fly to other countries.

I wish people would just be damn responsible. Get tested, know your status and tak the appropiate precaustions/medications/actions.
