Hi all

I am running an Asterisk 1.8 box with 3 x BRI lines. Any idea how I can determine the maximum utilisation of these ISDN lines, as we are adding users and need to decide whether or not to increase the number of trunks.

Many thanks
Grant

If you have FreePBX installed you should also have reports. It includes a utilization graph.

Otherwise if you are clever with DB queries you can probably do something using the raw cdr data in mysql.

I use a 1:5 ratio i.e. 1 line for every 5 employees on smaller (1-40) deployments for in and outbound traffic

That's a no-brainer. Go modern and get a respected voip provider who doesn't charge you for 2 lines at a time - better quality and better pricing and you can even get a live utilisation graph to watch. Happy to assist with a few recommended retail providers.

Thanks for the help guys. I found the stats that I was looking for.

As for the expansion plans, I'll be looking into all options...

2 concurrent calls per bri, 1 per channel

typically i run 4 bri's for 40 extensions just for incoming. Outgoing i prefer to use IS due to the amazing support.
