Suggestions for new service provider? Not a gamer, just want decent HTTP (browsing, downloads) all the time and NNTP downloads afterhours. Also considering upgrade to 1mbps. Can exclude Openweb Gold and any IS reseller.

Alternatively, anyone else in Cape Town (Claremont area) experiencing similar issues?

EDIT: Hope the Speedtest images load for you, most of the time they don't for me.

Worth a try. I'm giving them a shot from the first of December. Granted, I don't torrent or use news servers

Would highly recommend you upgrade to 1mbps.

I am happy on Mweb uncapped but then again I am not home during the day so don't know what speeds are like.

I'm also on the Claremont (Clareinch) exchange in Cape Town, but I've got a 10mbps line and it's flying with Afrihost. I get full line speed.

Ask the ISPs for a trial account and then make your decision.

Thanks for all the suggestions etc. Sounds like it's either ISP related or just my line alone. In the process of resurrecting my WA prepaid account to troubleshoot the line, going to give their uncapped service a shot in the new year.
