.DAR to vlc

Can a .dar file play with a vlc player or do I need to download another player?

Is it an archive? In which case only a player that is able to unarchive the file will be able to play it.

I don't know. All I wanted to do was download a file from Rapidshare that was .dar and I did not want to do it (large file) unless I could play it. I tried a .divx file and that worked ok

mabey its suposed to be a .Rar file. but usualy there would be more than one file in sequence. if its a premium account each file would be max 200meg otherwise free accounts are usualy 100Meg per file.
I have never come across a .dar file extension

file with the extension .DAR is an archive file created using 'DiskArchive'(DAR). An archive file is usually a group of files compressed into one file.

Compressed .DAR file(s) or archive(s) are files that are reduced in size either for storage or for faster transmission via the internet, etc.

DiskArchive is often used for creating 'split archive' .DAR files, a split archive is an archive that has been divided into several or numerous parts, the benefits of this being that by splitting a single archive into numerous parts, you can store the archive in chunks across multiple disks.

Seeing that you asked can you run a .rar also with VLC player, because I got this info in a search and so what program do i need

No computer operating system has built-in support for the Rar archive format. So if you have received a Rar file you will need to download and install some third party software to open it. There are several programs that can open Rar files on both Windows and Mac OS.

I've never even heard of a .DAR file which is why I didn't reply. Unless you wanted me to reply saying I don't know that that is, in which case, voila.

if you can't open it with 7zip, you can't open it ;)
i've never heard of anyone using .dar files.

Ok well please move it to the correct place... No need to shout

No offense intended on your chutzpah, it's the 2nd time today it has happened. I've reported the thread (and the "help I can't get my networking to work in Windows 7") so they can move it for you ;)

Software & Web Development

I think people misread the Development part

Watch your tongue young man....

It's:

1. Software
2. Web Development

Not Software development and Web development

Didn't you start a thread about people not reading

:D

@ Pitbull:

Actually it does refer to software development & web development. However using the word twice is somewhat redundant. If it was:

1. Software
2. Web development

Then there would be a comma after the word software (despite the &).

no, it's software dev & web dev just like:

"chocolate and strawberry ice cream" = choc ice cream + strawberry ice cream
