Dashboard Cameras

I agree.

@kripsto - does it switch on automatically when you start the car? and which vendor on ebay did you buy it from?

See above. Like I said, when it's plugged in, it starts/stop with the ignition. Else you have to manually start/stop it.

I guess bottom line is you get what you pay for. Made this mistake way to often, I am going to spend a little more on something decent.

True. I bought the cheapest one to play with and see if it'll work for me, because some of the dashcams are quite expensive. If/when I decide I need something more decent I'll also go that route. But it's quite amazing what you can get nowadays for very little money.

That is very true.

Mine was delivered today. Quality is oraait... Mic is almost useless, especially when a window is open. But it does the job for R329. Not bad at all.

At least at 329, if it is a cock up in the end you haven't spent all of your retirement fund!! :p

What does "oraait" mean - cra ppy or accptable? ;)

Oraait means.... You basically cannot see enough detail to make out number plates of cars driving in front of you. Yes when you are parked behind someone you can see, but overall it is not for detail. Will see if I can post a screenie or 2.

Here you go...

Not good quality, but will do the job until I have saved up for the GoPro

If that's 720p then the bitrate must be pretty low. Not being able to identify license plates sort of defeats the purpose of a dashcam IMO...
