I think everyone would be surprised to find how many sites are actually hosted in Cybernext locations already.

Yeah.. but those 83 clients are very possibly some rather large enterprise clients...

a data center in SA?

must be burning money on bandwidth then...

...bring on LLU, then you'll see some serious action.

Burning money on something - a lot of companies have put fibre into the ground, or will do it for you and then charge huge fees. Sort of means that lots of folk don't want any LLU.

until we can have real broadband internet connectivity under R400 ALL inclusive there is no point in facilities like this..

oh and one could hardly call this the "war"

New and existing players have invested in high end hosting facilities, with Business Connexion (BCX) being the first player to build a true Tier 4 data centre.
[..]
In June last year Neotel launched its new data center at its premises in Midrand
[..]
In late 2008 Vodacom Business launched its R100-million hosting facility in Midrand
[..]
In November last year Telkom launched its ‘green data centre’
And yet it's still sooo expensive.

Putting consumption in front of creation is ludicrous. The two go hand in hand.

Datacentres aren't there to host your family albums and mp3's. They are there for corporates who host huge amounts of data and/or who wants to make sure their data is safe and backed up every day.

I would love to know how BCX have built a Tier 4 DC when we only have a single Power supplier in this country...
