Hi afrihost;

Just want to find out regarding your data sim packages what is the most ideal for me;

I want to be able to run a video conference about 1 time a month and I want to be able to teamviewer into another PC without any lag;

Please advise, what is the recommended package I should get;

thanks

Hi!

I'll need a bit more information before I give you a good recommendation. :)

Are you specifically looking at a Mobile Data-based product? Could it also be an ADSL-based solution?

Sorry this blasted autocorrect,

Must be mobile, got a mtn 3g dongle, and I want to be able to connect whenever to my laptop and participate in video conferences when nessasary

Want to know what's the ideal package to get, prepaid if possible, that I can rest assured all will work out.

Great!

I would then recommend looking at the Mobile Data Packages here.

These Mobile Data Packages are completely month to month, and if you cancel before the 25th of the current month, your package will be cancelled at the end of the current month.

We will courier the sim card to your premises - either at Home or at Work - and our courier will RICA your sim card on the spot, so you will need to have your ID and Proof of Residence on-hand, as well as a copy of both.

Our packages are completely month to month, so I would perhaps consider taking the Mobile One package initially, then, if you need additional data you can just upgrade to a larger package, and then if the data was needed for only that month you just need to downgrade before the 25th of the current month, and you'll be back on your original package at the start of the new month!

This can all be done from your Afrihost Clientzone, and will take you less than five minutes to complete.

thanks got some more questions;

I saw the mobileone package for R99 a month, does this include the sim card and everything? will it also work with my MTN 3g dongle?
not even sure if its network locked but you never know;

is it set up via a debit order? do I get an email account with it?
also how is the stability with videoconferencing (not skype-- some kind of website I think http://vidyo) and team-viewer sessions.

will it work for what I need it for?

Our Mobile Data products run on the MTN cellular network, so you should expect to see similar performance and speeds that you would have had on your MTN device.

As far as I know, MTN does not network lock any of its devices, all you will need to do, to use the Afrihost Data on the MTN Dongle is to simply update the APN to Afrihost on the Dial-up Settings of the 3G dongle.

Just to be on the safe side, I would check that you have decent MTN coverage Here.

thanks, anticipate being in main centres so no coverage issues;
but videoconferences with 3g, not sure what kind of data package would work? never tried it before so not sure of the results;

also how much data does my application usually use; nobody has answered that for me.....

That can really be dependent on the duration of the video conferences, as well as the number of participants, the Mobile One should definitely be sufficient if you are intending to use it once a week.
