I need to host a SQL server database. At the moment, I am using a hosting provider which gives me 100MB disk space, but my database is growing at a fairly rapid rate. At the moment the database size is 80MB so I'm starting to pay overrages on at my hosting provider.

Try GamCo. R570 p/m for 1GB hosting space, which includes 2 SQL Server database connections. Not too bad, imho.

Why so? I've only ever had good service from them. I have 5 websites hosted with them as well and have at least 99% up-time. They also respond quickly to any queries (usually within 2 hours).

Not my experience. They managed to dupe someone I know into a local mail hosting package that cost them in excess of R6000 per month. Sure, that's the cost of local bandwidth, but when the person queried if they could move over to a US based hosting package, they said, oops, no can do.

So they canceled and switched over to WebAfrica and knocked that R6000 (hit more than R7000 once) and increasing bill down to a measly R500 per month :p

The end ;) :D :p

I am currently using WA but I was just looking for options. GamCo is a bit expensive, had a look at them...

Compared to Web Africa Gamco is expensive. You can pick up a reseller package with 2.5gb data on there and host unlimited websites/email accounts including databases (to the value of 2.5gb diskspace) for around R100 cheaper than the GamCo one referrer to earlier. PM me if you'd like my affilate code if you decide to go that route ;) I need the commission :D

MielieSpoor - where is your current site hosted (locally or internationally)
Feel free to take a look at some of the packages on offer on our site - though bare in mind these are all hosted internationally. Local hosting packages are expected to be effective 1 June 2009.
