Datsun Go! Thoughts

I hired one of these things for a week - wow, horrible vehicle.

drove one as a company vehicle once, build so cheaply its crazy....
not even a way to open the boot from the inside, can only be opened from the drivers floor,

no central locking, and really rubbish engine that sounds like a tractor at idle, with its 3 cylinder motor....

even my picanto, that hasnt got have power steering, is leaps and bounds better than this car,

even if they gave this car to me for free, wouldn't keep it.....

I think you mean outside but yeah - totally annoying.

I must have rented the luxury model because mine had central locking, albeit not with a remote. The engine noise was almost unbearable when the aircon was off, it just got louder, and noticeably slower, with it on. :o

At least it had an aircon :) the entry level Sandero will give you electric windows in the front but no aircon :-)

compared to the Tata nano, I bet this is a limo.....

did anybody here experience the gear grinding noise when downshifting?
I thought the syncro was worn, but apparently they all do that, just wanted to be sure.....

TBH, maybe it doesn't even have syncros or a gearbox for that matter :wtf:

This Go had power windows in the front. I had to explain the window crank handles in the rear to the kids :o

Speaking of the power windows - after driving 1200km my right knee was bruised from banging against the bubble they put the window switch in. My left knee was just as bad from constantly banging against the stupid hand brake handle.

did you also get a single switch each side for the windows?
no remote opening of the passenger side from the drivers side?

so you have electric windows, that feel like manual ones.....
still need to lean over to open and close them....

To be fair the car is so small you really didnt have to lean that far to open the passenger side window.

yip, but whats the point of electric windows, if you still have to lean over and crank the passenger side one ,
I mean its electric, much easier to raise and lower them without hurting your back.....

but the go is as cheap as its possible to get, I surprised they didnt leave a manual winder on the drivers side
and a electric window only on the passenger side, to shave even more cash.....

Had the displeasure of driving one of these into our workshop this week for a windscreen fitment. Personally the new Shatterprufe windscreen was one heck of a resale upgrade to this car. Bonnet also had "GO faster" obligatory Transkei hail dents which was a nice touch.
