Dealer madness or this normal?

I have to wait now, till the 3rd of December thats when car launches apparently. Paper work can be done on the 1st.

Each BYD dealer will get 8 cars at launch price, I was number 5, I would guess it is probably sold out now by my dealer.

Sealion 5 basically done deal, will probably make new thread about how it is etc.

Ordered a wall mount charger from temu what can go wrong lol
Nice one bud. Congrats.

Enjoy the car and we look forward to your thread about the car

It seems I’ve been thrown another spanner in the works.

I had to call BYD twice just to get a trade-in value for my car, as there was no contact from their side. They’re only willing to offer R30k less than my settlement value. All other dealers were willing to offer full settlement on my current vehicle.

I told the sales consultant to make a plan by tomorrow, otherwise there’s no deal.

While I was on the road, I stopped by Chery again. I spoke to the lady who originally sold me my Tiggo 7 and asked her to make me an offer I can’t refuse on the Tiggo 7 CSH Ultra.

She said she may be able to get approval for a new one at around R630k to R635k, out the door, with my current car fully settled. I told her I would definitely be interested in that.

So I’m now waiting for her manager to approve the deal.

She has to wait for her managers approval? That’s something that can be sorted out with a quick WhatsApp between Sales and management.

Hopefully no run around ‘R Us going on there.

I’ve already shared my view these okes are (printing) money hand over fist ie. less pressure to hit targets, go the extra mile.

These is a new Geely hybrid that just got released now as well in the 599k mark. Maybe worth a look, just to confuse matters more. lol.

Indeed saw it haha, but have go higher spec as want eletric tailgate.

But basically all same drive train and will probably drive similar

Cool, keen to hear the review once in hand. This segment you shopping in (compact SUV + Hybrid) is going to be the busiest bar the entry level hatches.

Hoping to finalize a deal soon.

To this day no communication from BYD tygervalley, Will probably just ask for my holding deposit back. Don't want to do bussiness with them at this rate.

I'm curious what the point is of charging these hybrids at home? My understanding is that the petrol engine charges the battery for you, and while charging it yourself is possible, it hardly seems worth it.

Yep can use petrol engine to charge then around 5l/100km consumption wise. While if you keep the battery charged yourself you could drive for free for very low consumption like 1L/100km. The rate eskom/city pays for access solar is not really worth it, il rather send the access solar to the car.

I saw the Sea lion today, it's really not a good looking vehicle, thing is shaped like a boat, with a pointlessly high suspension, a sports car can go underneath the rear of that car the way it's so high.

Not BYDs finest design moment.

There are 2 Sealion's currently. One is a PHEV (the Sealion 6) & the Sealion 7 (full EV), the Sealion 5 is about to drop.
Yeah 5 is new one, not a pretty from the front but gets job done, but alas the BYD dont see me as important enough client to call me back lol

You know you can buy a very decent Merc or Bm secondhand for that money? It will also outlast that Chinesium several times over.
Yup, but it’s all about it being an SUV… some people won’t be seen dead with an old car - appearances to keep up etc

I have been thinking about getting a nice little electric or diesel run-around for daily stuff around town.
The Raptor is nice and all. ODO is at 50k km at the moment. And just to experience a 180-degree shift in fuel consumption, from 6km/L to 6L/100km. Not that I am complaining about the raptors consumption. I will still take it.

I just had a flashback to my F30 320d and the insane fuel consumption that thing had.

Just make sure it isn't too small...

So Mahindras on road fees are 6k? Like wtf when did these fees get so high? But also when looking at second hand prices, one dealer wanted 4k another one was 2k but it was literally voetstoets.
