I've had 2 dead decoders polluting my account for years, don't waste your time.
But if you succeed pleez let us know.

Talking of change of ownership - the new nicely simplified online-account form for that is a ruse, afterwards they want all the forms filled out etc. anyway.
Thing is I've had decoders removed in the past without a problem now suddenly no one knows what's going on, the whole interaction is making me consider IPTV just because it's less of a hassle

New cleva manipulation by both MC and their partner Showmax with online access - a "need" to ask for cookie confirmation every few days, over and over again

No means no MC !

Just a thread bump, but does anyone have an email address for the technical department? Not that useless generic help@dstv address

There used to be a department called Xtreme Ops, but then they made it for internal use only. Maybe see if anyone knows how to reach them.

Then they came up with "specialists", but I think they've since canned the idea.

For me the approach that has usually worked with difficulties is insisting on a supervisor or higher, but as many of us know it's like pulling teeth!

Maybe post your problem and see if we can offer some advice? With DSTV, one actually needs to know what the problem and solution is to guide the voice on the other end of the line. Some of us still have the list of error messages and their actual meanings. plus some solutions.

I think it's still about post #1141

Hi Geoff, basically just following on from my previous post

Does anyone have a technical contact at Multichoice with half a brain cell?

I'm trying to get a scrapped decoder removed from my account but I'm being told it's possible then not possible then I must do change of ownership etc

I am about to loose by farking mind dealing with these morons

I've found someone that seems quite competent at that same email address, maybe try reach her?
Her name is Ntombi.
She's on shift today & tomorrow until 4pm.

Ask her to find out if they can put your dead decoders "on second-hand status" - that would solve it.

@Segg , Ntombi failed to remove my old decoders as well in the end.

At least I have a "reason" now - they supposedly fear someone getting hold of the old decoder and using it fraudulently once it's on second-hand status.
Also, a supervisor doesn't have the authority to override this, it must go to management.... who as usual generally aren't interested.

Good luck, I'll edit in if I have any success.

Brian, do you have any details for management?

Apologies for not responding sooner. The only way I got old decoders off my account was to go to an MC office with the decoder with a removed HDD and ask them to tell me what was wrong. When they try and test it, they get an error message that says the HDD has failed. Then I asked them to remove it from my account and not repair it. That worked. The next step was to take it to e-waste in Silverton and get a few pennies for the scrap value.

It seems multichoice are begging me to close my account due to their technical support :whistling: it is infuriating

Some "good news"; I succeeded this morning, just waiting for them to confirm.

The way it got done - their supervisor decided to ask their billing assurance team if willing to assist and they were.
If going this route suggest giving it a few days so they can calm down first, I was quite threatening..
