Already did a factory reset and format as per my post

I found the sequence for the 2A, and it seems to have worked!
Will be monitoring for the rest of the week just to be sure

Fantastic news! Let's hope it stays that way. Maybe you can post the sequence on here for future reference to others as I only have the sequence for the Explora 1.

LOL, was thinking the same ... now looking for it again ... HEHEHE
 
Fixing a constant reboot issue on the Explora 2A (this might work for other decoders, but I used this on the 2A)
  1. Hold the POWER button on your decoder down, till the front panel shows a blank screen
  2. Then hold down the P+ button [while still holding the POWER button], until CODE appears on the front panel
  3. Then press: P- (0 will appear on the front panel)
  4. Then press P+ (01 will appear on the front panel)
  5. Then P- again (010 will appear on the screen)
  6. Then P+ again (0101 will appear on the screen) [Steps 3-6 should be done in quick succession, like in a toggling motion. Left-Right-Left-Right]
  7. A blinking HDDF will appear on the front panel of your Explora
  8. Then press P+ to confirm (hold down for 5 seconds) [I held for more than 5 seconds until I saw the little envelope, and subsequently text appearing on the screen]
  9. Do not interrupt the process until you see PASS displayed on the front panel
  10. LOAD will appear on the front panel. Please wait for the process to complete which will take a few minutes
  11. You’ll know it is done when your pictures start playing again
  12. Please check your playlist – if it is blank, then the formatting was successful. If it is not, then you need to do the steps again [Mine was already blank, so I checked on the recording schedule and all was gone]

Not a question about a fault, but when did the functionality to schedule a recording on an Explora disappear from the App?
 
I was in the US in 2013, I had just bought a new ipad mini 2, and was watching the "free" channels that were available on the host's cable account, one of them was ESPN Extra, and on that app, it was a brilliant app, you had the option to record live tv, [I think 270 minutes on the ipad], you had the option of picture in picture. It was great and I am sure not all that expensive to produce..There was a "wii" version as well, I just used the ipad as it was portable..

Now I wonder why no one at DSTV has bothered to upgrade or invest in reliable apps, if Akamai, who basically own streaming services for everyone, why there is no dstv app for win10/11, mac os x, there is for android, and I think maybe for ipad/iphones...

If you read the twitter thread, a huge issue is the lack of non english commentary on live games on the streaming service..To send more than 1 language would not be difficult, as the 2 are not merged until you start watching on your device..

With the app, DSTV could make "deals" with outside supplies, take SKY, you could buy a season pass to SKYF1, so you can watch other categories, Porsche Super Cup, F4, and I know it was a huge issue "Carabo Cup" football, finally DSTV started...

We don't get the best "package" of rights, often it is the worst, no replays, no extra commentary, very annoying...

My opinion is that the reason we don't have such functionality is because DSTV believes they need to re-invent the wheel from scratch every time. And by the time they come up with something that (occasionally) works it is considered ancient in the rest of the satellite world.

They are STILL busy working on their streaming-only box which is nothing more than an Android TV Box - except it won't run on Android so will have no App Store or most of the other functionality of a TV Box - all it will have is the apps DSTV supports. Who will buy that instead on a proper TV Box with the same but also much more functionality?

I don't think they even consider that, it always seems to be about maintaining their psychotic security levels by keeping it in-house but that doesn't work anymore as they haven't been entertainment-central for years now.

I fully agree! But the DSTV Now app is already running on Android Boxes so their "scaled down" version will not offer a single thing that isn't already available elsewhere - and I can almost guarantee it will cost more than some Android boxes with much more functionality. The mind boggles why they are even bothering with it - unless they plan on selling it for something ridiculous like R200 or giving it away for free as part of a subscription contract.
 
Ever since the last update to the Explora 3B every time there's a recording issue when you play back the recording it freezes at the error and refuses to play back any further so you have to start from the beginning and then can't go past that point. This isn't a hard drive issue as it started right after the update and it's only for signal issues like the bad weather today. It also only happens with recorded programs and not the viewing environment.

Any else experiencing this?

It's happened on other decoders in the past. Try bringing up the Status Bar near to the problem, then the wheel's right arrow to try force past it. You may have to miss a few minutes if it does work.

I tried that but it's like it can't read anything past it and then freezes completely so you have to stop it and then can't view anything past that point. Sometimes you can get past it by repeatedly stopping and playing but it's like it no longer wants to display the "recording error" message and continue by itself. I hope they fix this with the next update but it doesn't look like they're in a hurry.
 
No idea why, now we seem to have a clone type horseracing channel - 240 "Racing 240".

Possibly the ch. 249 politics again, years ago they wanted to leave the platform until MC cooperated better.
 
Has anybody had the problem with a Decoder 3A losing the remote, video and sound etc. settings after power off and on again? I have tried putting it on a surge plug, but this does not help. Is there a battery in the unit that keeps the setting?

This used to happen with me on the 2A, for ssoooo long. Then all of a sudden it started keeping the settings. Guessing you will have a similar experience at some point.
