I would like to play around with Debian 4.0, but see that the iso's are 3x DVD images, waaaaay to big.

Anyone know where i can find the absolute minimum Debian 4 iso to get to root where i can install what i need via root?

Tnks!!

Debian 4.0 "Etch" disc 1 is sufficient to get a system up and running. It also includes quite a bit of "standard" software. The other discs contain a lot of "extra" software.

You could even do a network install if you wanted?

I have the Debian 4.0 discs if you want.

But you DO know that a newer version is available?

or get something like the lxfce/kde livecd.

But a netinstall is the way I went when I installed Lenny the other day.

I also made use of a network install. Total bandwidth used, including the 150MB ISO was around 500MB if I remember correctly. From there on you can install whatever you need.

before you use netinstall, how comfortable are you with the command line?

ah do you know what. i confused the netiinstall with the times I have installed via debootstrap.

Yeah as long as you have a ethernet connection available, netinstall is perfect.
