For an additional r500, i think will take the Blue 500gb.
The blue 240gb does not seem worth it.

The 500Gb Blue SSD is always on TAL for R969 or R999.

Based on the price, i assume Blue is a better performance drive compared to green.

About the motherboard/processor, if i spend another r500 will i be able to get a 'better' motherboard/processor?

About the case, it looks abit boring, can i look at any case on the site or does the case depend on the motherboard?

Yup sorry I was just getting as close to the R7000 from Takealot with delivery and building costs.

Yup adding R500 for a better SSD is a good idea, I've got a green and a blue SSD and the blue is better yes. I took a micro-atx case to try match the Dell in size, but yeah you could get any case that matches the motherboard size, well a micro-atx board will fit into any case, but a micro-atx case will only fit a micro-atx board.
On the motherboard yes R500 more will get you slightly better board with more ports and RAM slots, R500 more won't get you a better processor unfortunately, that is a R900 jump :-(

2grand more gets you the following. Better power supply, nicer looking case, 500GB SSD. 2400G processor which has a better GFX and is 4 cores 8 threads and a better motherboard.
Again basing it off a smaller case.

I am not a IT engineer, but i know a few things. How difficult will it be to build it myself?

Actually not that hard, you might not get the cables too look as nice but it's really mostly plug and play nowadays.
So what I did is I bought the majority from Wootware as they had decent prices, then some from takealot and at the time unfortunately Rebeltech was a bit pricier on all the stuff I wanted. For your case I'd get the hard-drive, cpu and case from rebeltech, PSU, motherboard and memory from wootware and the SSD from Takealot.

You'll need a GFX card if you go with the 2600 then, the 2400 and 2200G have built in GPUs that aren't half bad for builtin GPUs.

It's a very basic case, but wasn't bad for cable management, it's got 2 USB ports on the top and the audio headers.

Most modern cases have the ports on the top of the case.

From what I've read one person can have no issue with ram on mb x while the next guy will have issues with it on mb y. If it's different mb models within the sam brand you tend to have better luck.

Forgot about that part, well the Asrock board at roughly the same price is pretty nice as I said it's the one my buddy got, 4 DDR4 ports, a good couple of sata ports and an m2 port. R400 more though for 2 extra DDR ports seems a bit much but hey I did spend R400 more for pretty lights

no a gamer, my son plays, but nothing hectic... also not willing to over invest...

RGB adds costs, and to be fair I know why. I bought Tessarect and ended up adding RGB fans, so basically the case ended up costing my R900
