Defy Fridge Freezer combo DFF425 555lt- (Utter junk!)

Once you go frost-free, you will never buy the conventional type, I learnt this lesson a while back from my Dad who kept warning me.

Yes, have also been burned with defy. Moer it away or give to someone in need.

FYI - The quickest way to get rid of an appliance or any other large item that requires transport is to put it on OLX for Free (just indicate it needs repairs) - have gotten rid of many items this way

My defy microwave has been going for 12 years, my side by side fridge for 5 years never had to defrost it. My dish washer is also about 5 years.

My parents have a few LG appliances, they also seem reliable.

I consider most appliances to be reliable, they are all very similar, maybe you were just unlucky.

As with your Defy, stick to the frost free ones.

My older Defy Fridge/Freezer combo, is going strong for at least 11 years. But every Defy Product we bought since has not. We stopped buying the brand, currently have a Samsung Fridge.

Oops, I just checked, our Defy Microwave is also going strong (10 years -/+). But their has been a decrease in Defy quality since then.
 
We bought just about all Bosch kitchen appliances, excluding the Smeg oven/stove and LG microwave, the dishwasher, washing machine, standalone fridge and standalone freezer are all Bosch and all have been great.

I couldn't agree more, both our Bosch fridge and freezer are frost free and it is an absolute pleasure, they have been running solid for four years now.

How much joy can one derive from a fridge, clearly a lot ;)

It's single function is to keep the content cold..

On the other hand I've had an LG microwave and Bosch dishwasher that both went.

Appliances in general are luck of the draw. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get a lemon.

Also keep in mind that appliances are incredibly fragile when transported. That could be a factor as well, as you don't know how the delivery guys were driving on their way to you. My dishwasher went after moving house...

I blame Eskom loadshedding for f***g up our fridges !!
 
Anyone with a Defy fridge (any of the new ones) find your fridge beeps after load shedding? ours does it for about 3 hours and then stops. Very annoying.

Took my LG almost 11 years before it started buzzing

Its better as flexibility to position/place and if one packs other still fine eg if it needs to be taken in.
