I have been noticing a delay in receiving some sms's since moving to Telkom from Vodacom a month ago. My home and office alarm send me an sms from the alarm company when the alarm is armed or disarmed. These have ALWAYS arrived within 60sec of the alarm being turned on. Now, sometimes they are delayed by up to 30-60min.

Recently I bought online with my Credit Card. Normally the OTP arrives instantly, but I had to wait over a minute.

I never ever had this with Vodacom. Anyone else ever suffered this?

Nobody else?

Still an issue for me. Business premises alarm sms's 2hrs late today while my brother who is on Vodacom, got his instantly.

No, never - always get a delivery report within 10-15sec

People still use sms?

Here we go...

How else can my alarm company notify me of arm/disarm?
How else does one receive an Virgin Money One Time Pin?

You'd be surprised how many lower income customers do not have email/fax/whatsapp. I have landed a R100k sale by sms'ing the client the itemised quote over SMS because that was her only comm's tool.

Why would you want that? Sounds more like a PITA then anything else.

Business premises - to make sure alarm company receives a closing to make sure alarm activated correctly. Also useful when I am not there to see what time open and what time close occurs. Lastly, instant notification if open occurs outside of business hours.

At home - see what time domestic left the house and confirm she armed the alarm.

Porting really screws up things, hope it gets sorted.

PM Telkom za?

Telkom SM team says they looked into it but sms from my alarm company were still being delayed by up to 2hrs. Called the alarm company and asked them to use my Afrihost sim number instead. Now the sms's come through instantly. Thank goodness for dual sim or I would have had to port back to Vodacom on my main line.
