Demon's Souls - PS3 RPG

Thanks, will try that. I was ready to crack my controller over my kneecap last night. ;)

Took me forever to kill him on new game+. I tried the flamelurker on new game+. One suggestion when playing new game+, you need to be in body form. Flamelurker took 70% of my health in 1 swipe in body form. Thats over 700HP. But I used melee this time instead of the soul arrows. Even the armoured spider is insane.

Didn't play as much as i would have liked to over the weekend, but at least managed to beat the Old Hero, Maneater and the Storm King.
So far i'd say that Maneater is probably the hardest boss fight so far. Storm King was just damn easy, but i love the Storm King level - this game never ceases to amaze me when it comes to level design and atmosphere.
I also think the sound design is fantastic - everything just sounds so authentic, ie the creak of the bow as you pull it back, and the thump that follows as you release the string.
Now which area should i take on next?

What areas have you still got to do? Maneater will probably be the hardest boss of them all. One thing that makes him hard is when he splits into 2.

Done with Maneater, so next would be 3-3 there.
Other next areas would be 1-3 (area after Tower Knight) and 4-3 (area after Old Hero). Finished world 2. Haven't touched world 5.

1-3: Penetrator - Challenging fight but not extremely difficult.
3-3: Dark Phantom Monk - You should be able to take him on easy.
4-3: Storm King - You already finished him off.

I suggest finishing off area 3. Area 5 bosses are not hard. I think the stages are more difficult than the bosses. Make sure you take Poison & Plague healing items.

Did you rescue Yurt from the cage in 3-2? If you did, make sure you kill him afterwards or he will start killing the NPC's in the nexus. If you let him return to the nexus, you will find him on the 2nd floor right end corner.

Holy smokes this game is difficult!! How do I get past the dragon on the first stage? :P

Damn, thanks for that tip! I did rescue him but have let him live. I'd better go in and kill the b@strd tonight.

Cool, so you picked it up?
I think weve posted the strategies on the 1st or second page of this thread.
Basically you'll need a bow (short or long) and make sure your dexterity is high enough to wield it. Stock up on 150 - 200 arrows and take him down from the 2nd tower.

As Kerrrang said, you will need alot of arrows to shoot him. But on the first stage, you will find 2 dragons nested to the corridor on the left before the bridge. If you shoot the red dragon to about 20% of health, it will fly away. The bridge should be clear for you to go across but in area 1-2, the dragon will return again. This would be the best time to kill it.

Just before the bridge in 1-1, you will need the dragon to flame the first few guys. Once it does that, then time your run acrross the bridge. Run with your shield up.

BTW, welcome to Demon's Souls. Hope you are wearing a cap or you will have no hair left or tie a cable to your controller so you don't through it against your flat panel tv. :p

Almost did that yesterday night!!

Anyway, 2000 of my souls are now lying right beneath the white dragon's tail! :( How on earth will I get those back?

And how am I supposed to buy 200 arrows with no money? :P

Did you get past the red dragon? Because the red dragon will flame you before you even get to the white one. If your body is lying below the swishing tail under the white dragon, I suggest you leave it. I died there as well in one smack. Rather when the red dragon makes its pass over the bridge, you run behind it & past all the enemies.

I suggest you farm some souls for a bit.
Area 4-1 is a good area to get some souls for arrows. Just kill the first 4 or 5 skeletons you come across, return to nexus, rinse and repeat.

He will still need to finish 1-1 before the other stages open up to him. 4-2 is also quite cool to farm. Kill the reaper and you get about 4500 souls. 4-3 is the best because you can go back after you kill the boss and farm about 15000 souls using that storm ruler blade (I think thats what its called).

Yes I did get past him. I ran like hell.

Guess those 2000 Souls are now gone :(
Don't feel so bad. I lost 70000 Souls when a black phantom came and killed me. You should be finished with the phalanx then. As you progress, you are going to fight bosses that are quite challenging. But when you defeat them, you feel great, like you earned it. Enjoys! ;)

Took out the Old Monk last night. After you learn his pattern it's actually pretty easy, but was still only able to take him out on my 4th try.
So got worlds 2,3 and 4 in the bag. Now to finish 1-3 and world 5.

So i saw the trophy list for the US version and it seems that apart from Phalanx, all the bosses have been renamed. I actually prefer the names for the Asian version, some of the US names sound a bit contrived.

Cool. Seems you progressing nicely. World 5 stages are more difficult than the bosses.

Wohooo! Finally opened the gate to the first boss. I'll try and kill him tonight :D

Your views on the game? I tried playing oblivion last night and it lacked the combat finesse that Demon's Souls had. Just the controls & feeling was alot more real in DS where Oblivion felt like the character was walking on air.
