ohannesburg - Denel, the state arms manufacturer, has reported strong improvement in profit in its latest financial year on the back of its export performance and forecast a positive outlook with an order book at R35 billion.

The company said in its annual report, tabled in Parliament yesterday, that it has been given a positive outlook byratings agency Fitch Ratings over its performance.

Denel, which was struggling in the past and sought state intervention in the form of loan guarantees, said its revenue grew by 28 percent to R5.8bn.

Its net profit rose by 72 percent from R194m to R270m. Denel’s revenue has increased over the last few years, with R3.9bn reported in 2013, R4.5bn in 2014 and R5.8bn in 2015.

“The agency further noted that Denel has managed to diversify its revenue base away from the SA defence sector with more than 50 percent of revenue now generated from exports, most notably to the Middle East and Southeast Asia,” said the annual report..................

I though all SOEs are badly managed, full of cadre deployees, and ran to the ground?

Geesus rza :D

Ok, name me all the SOE's and which one's are successful.

One of them is showing positive growth and now that mitigates all the other places like SAA, Post Office, Eskom and the likes?

There are something like 700 SOE.

Ones that are doing well that I can think of off the top of my head...

Denel
ACSA
Transnet (even given the issues at is subsidiary PRASA)
Wesgro
DBSA
PIC
Telkom (It should maybe not be on this list. I don't think it qualifies as a SOE anymore. But I'll leave it here for now)

This is the only reason they are doing so well:

What? They do deal with SA. And, as any good business would, is expanding their business to as many countries as possible. Or, as I suspect, are you just trying to come up with a way to insult SA?

Lol, while its good that the company is doing well, this particular case, you cant ignore that the sale of these products will do more harm than good.
Doesn't matter where they are selling their product.... you can be assured someone on the receiving end isn going to feel they are doing more harm than good ;)
