Thanks again for the replies and PMs. Are there any good depression and/or anxiety disorder support groups in the Southern Suburbs?

Anyone on SSRI's taken a major libido dip? And did you take anything to fix it?
For what it's worth: I am using a drug called Mirtazapine which does not typically have many of the side-effects as with SSRIs, including the libido issues.
Oh I also wanted to mention, I find psychiatrists overpriced! Initial session is around R3k then shorter followup up sessions and I was given ssris who I felt didn't help. I went back and.. Prescribed another ssri, still not helping![]()
They are not really that expensive considering that they have to deal with all types of personality from patients. Also the change of medicine can only be effectively achieved by your psychiatrist when you're in a controlled environment like in a hospital. Why do you think doctors like to book their patients in hospital for "observation"?
I've heard of that.. Observation. However I've been told to stop medication x and try y. Just my general experience is that they listen for symptoms to merely prescribe a pill
You can't reasonably put people into hospital for observation in the context of antidepressant medication, which can take several weeks to several months to start working.
