DigiChilli January Status and feedback

CLOSED ALL OTHER BANDWIDTH CONSUMING STUFF...HTTP still slowwww

i can download at a reasonable speed, but can't do any browsing what so ever, even when not downloading. Router struggle to connect to DC, all in all, had much better days on DC than the past week or two.

Same here...I get 15+ kB/s down speed in Utorrent but HTTP very slow indeed?

Wadup TECH? Doesn't look like a shaping issue, even without downloads HTTP still slow... :wtf:

The shaping is done on their side, so you closing all your bandwidth consuming stuff won't do squat to up your http downloads, its on their side that all other consuming bandwidth stuff are causing havoc

To put what Andre is saying into english as I understand it and so people won't be confused;

You may still burst up to max line speed (384k spicy & mild etc)
There are still issues being worked on atm so expect slow speeds
All bandwidth is UNSHAPED - meaning you decide what to do with the bandwidth you get.

If I'm wrong please correct me :)

@Andre Any news on DC's news server? :)

I understand perfectly, I just asked about the bursting because I haven't seen my line burst in a while.

I'm signing up for Feb, lets hope I won't be too disappointed!

Just one question, which one is better to sign up with, Astraweb or Rapidshare?

I use news servers extensively already, but is everything available on RS? Never used it before.

Sorry if I offended you I was trying to help other non-IT people who are keeping there eye on DC, but on the bursting side of things I managed to burst up to full line speed before DC/Telkom did something and got disconnected. After the reboot I got sloooow speeds :)

Something else I want to ask is What's going on with the 6 hour PPPoE disconnections? Is there a known problem and being fixed? It's been going on for a month or so =/

Go have a look and see if you can find the stuff you want now, to check it out kind of. Not sure if you're aware of how RS works, but you cannot browse through RS's databse to find items. You have to find links posted on websites, forums, given to you by people directly perhaps, or by using RS search engines.

I don't think one is necessarily much better, though there's pro's and con's. e.g. Usenet, nothing is ever deleted, but you are at the mercy of your providers retention (given that Astra has like 400days+ that's not a biggy imo). Rapidshare, stuff is often deleted, but some files can last for ever (they usually don't).

If you want TV shows, movies, music, games, both will probably suffice and I reckon sooner or later everything mainstream pops up on both. The groups release most stuff on different mediums at the same time and 3rd parties also upload what they got from a torrent to RS or Usenet sooner or later.

Me, I prefer Usenet somehow, maybe get a short term subsription to both and see how it goes.

So is bursting still in place? I have not seen my line go over 40 for the past week and a half (4MB line on Mild) . Also , Astraweb speeds have dropped significantly over the past week, could we get some light on that? Very nice though to now have a DC representative on the forums to clear things up...
Thanks Digi Tech...

OMG they went and F'in broke it again!!! Stop testing ***** and keep it working!

Yip, everything just went belly up, my icon shows there is no network connection, even though I am logged, but even logging on with IS now, took my a couple of retries

Thanks. I think I'll try Astraweb, I am familiar with Usenet. And I'll keep to the torrent side of life as well.

Finally...the MyBB pages load properly also.

Earlier it was as if the pages had only loaded to near the end. 5fm still cannot connect for at least 2-3 minutes. Something is wrong with telkom.

DC is still dead.
