DigiChilli January Status and feedback

im getting 200kB/s download , i was getting 450-500kB/s last week..... WHAT IS GOING ON !!!!!!!! all i get is "we working on the problem"
 
Hello,

Whats the difference between the first two packages? Spicy & Mild. The website says that both are 256K connection? Is that a mistake?

What is the load speed of Youtube for a typical 10 min. feed at 256K connection? How long would it take to load?

Any help would be great!

the diff is that the spicy allows 1 connection while the mild you can have concurrent connections, you should get a speed of 32kB/s on thos packages
 
Oh okay.. I can live with a 30K speed at moment. 1 connection would mean what though? I have one router and from that I use it on two computers.. Thats one connection or two?

that would be one connection, if you had one connection at home and used the same connection at work that would be a concurrent connection which you would need the mild account for :)
 
Well, I did say I will try it for a month, and while it does work, and I have not had the bad problems most people do, the speed is a joke, and therefore will not be renewing it next month.

I'd rather wait for WA or some other ISP to come up with something that actually works properly.
 
I am also waiting for some better offer of an uncapped. My monthly usage is about (not more than 30GB) and most of it would be Voip or Youtube + surfing.. in a price range of R300-500. I missed the SAOL 499 package by short margin. so I am awaiting the Afrihosts next announcement on uncap. But I guess I can live with this for a month or so and then change to another on next month.

I would be able to do that right? I can tell them in the middle of my first month that I cant go for the next month! or would they hook me with the 30 day notice? You know if I like it, i.e its managable for my regular surfing etc, I might just stick with it.. at R300 its not bad.

That's rather sad for R3000.

You'd be better off with one of Axxess' uncapped.
Some guys get 700-800gig a month.

Why do you say you got your monies worth then?

You should be getting 450kB/s constant considering how much you paying! Yes, I have got my money's worth this month but at this rate now, there is now, no way I can continue. The speeds on everything are pretty much horrendous . I payed on the 29th of December, does that mean that I have already payed for the month of Feb?
 
Okay one last thing before I charge up on the account..

today is 31st. If I pay today.. will it be reflected for January or for Feb? I dont want to sit with 0 in the account tomorrow! :D
 
i wouldnt expect more than an average of 420. thats what i get with my line on other isp's. torrents are a different story though due to peers and seeds and all. all in all i think the dc spicy package is a good deal for people with a 384 line.. its pretty much the best value you're gonna get. i got a 4meg line this month so i'll be cooling down but only because i cant go back to 384 speeds after experiencing this, and i cant afford the hot package :P

as ar as i know dc will give you a month's access from the day you sign up regardless of when in the month you sign up. i might be wrong.
