DigiChilli January Status and feedback

Indeed I noticed this too but it is rather extraordinary that they'd actually BLOCK https. All those EFT customers (who don't have it auto-set up) aren't going to be able to log into online banking to pay them....................even if they'd actually still want to.

Also it seemed FTPS is blocked too but I don't think many people here use that.

List of ports NOT blocked will be shorter than the list that is blocked. Doesn't most news providers use port 443 for ssl connection? That the only reasons I can think of why they blocked it.

On a happier note, they finally confirmed cancellation. But they actually buggered that up as well. Asked for end of month, and they made it with immediate effect.

have looked at this thread since march or so ... digichilli still has customers?? wtf?

I need to start a service like this ... rent a 20Mb pipe oversell it to hell and gone and watch the money roll in!

Actually between march and august, they have been pretty darn good imho. Been one of the better uncapped 384k packages during that time

No offense but if you'd been reading this thread from March to August like clickme stated you would know that the 384kbps users were getting full speed(35-55KB/s) 24/7 for 95% of the time between March and August. None of the other ISP's offered that.

I have to agree with you now though because I really don't see Digichilli having many customers if any after what Digichilli has done and the way they have treated their customers during this month.

Hmmm Openweb Gold at R248 now seems like a damn good buy if all the hype about the account is true

I was thinking about going with Openweb as well but wasn't certain what type of speeds I'd get during the day and night and how much I'd be able to download. If you get it can you let us know whether it is worth it or not?

I decided to hold off on any uncapped offerings till December and decided to sign up for Afrihost's 50GB capped package for R237,50.
So far it's been working perfectly with Rapidshare(35-55KB/s), plus I have the peace of mind I can get full speed whenever I need it and not worry about being shaped during the day.

As far as I know it that special is only valid if you use a debit order with Openweb? Unless they have changed it? Which would be great! :D

@Prophet112

I'll be getting an Openweb Uncapped Gold Account on Friday the 1st (according to Openweb) so I'll post some speedtest during the day.

DC is actaully running *OK* today but still not the DC I know and love :o

Don't mind a debit order with openweb, had one previously with them, and was simple and quick(only 1 e-mail) to close the account when I no longer needed it.

Thanks XineoX.
Do you know how long the special with Openweb is available?

Unfortunately I don't but I think it might be for a little while longer, or better deals might come out. Wonder if EASSY will roll out :erm:

Yeah i went for the 60 gig unshaped afrihost option. I'll use it till the end of the year and then see what happens.

Done +-41gigs so far on the Openweb uncapped - 384 line - not the Gold option... IS shaped me to death for a while, so much so that my upload speed +-10KB/s was faster than my download speed...
Back to doing full line speed on an nzb at the moment...

Getting Auth Error now anyone else? Or did DC finally do something right and suspend my account because of non-payment :p

Even if it is that I'm sure they said you have 7 days after your month is up to pay lol if not I guess a quick top up will do until Openweb create my account :D

EDIT: Just as I post this DC works, guess they can't get much right lately

DC:

Single Threaded: 16KB/s
Multi Threaded: 10KB/s

Openweb:

Single Threaded: 37KB/s
Multi Threaded: 35-40KB/s

So far so good on Openweb except I wonder why I'm not on SAIX, IS or even Vodacom Business :erm: Also noticed the ping difference between DC vs OP weird is what comes to mind

EDIT: Okay seems that I am on SAIX at the moment. Oh and speeds from rapidshare and megaupload are running at full speed :D Also I should check IF I can connect to the SAIX news server...

:wtf: single threaded faster then multi threaded. Somewhere on the forum I read that some of the openweb gold accounts is on neology. That's one thing bout the DC account, its latency were almost the same as my telkom saix account and sometimes even better.

Yeah since the DC cr@pped out downloading through DAP has been a nightmare  except that 24 hour period I thought DC had fixed everything... I am on Neology but I can check my stats through SAIX so I'm guessing it's SAIX. Either way speeds are over 30KB/s which makes me very happy.

Now I wonder how long my DC account will last until they suspend it :p
