Ok, if the minimum guaranteed speed is listed as 1024 then how can you say they promised you 450kb/s?

You can expect to get about 120-130kb/s.

Indeed, but only at PROMISED speeds. Even ASSuming this lad is on the 1024k package then that package is only supposed to burst to 2048k. Meaning downloading at 4mb on it is at a fault.

But agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiin this needs to simply be limited on Digichilli's side (and maybe it is now?).

Download all you want at the speeds you PAID FOR. Nothing more and nothing less.
 
@blaaislaai, you are paying for your MINIMUM account speed. you are not paying for the extra 3 meg you get if you have a 4meg line and paying R3000 a month even.

so don't abuse what is given as a privilege coz it ****s the network up
 
I am now able to connect to World of Warcraft! woot. The ping is pretty high though, 1000. This is not totally unplayable, but no where near the 300-400 I get with any of my other accounts. Dave are there still issues upstream? Or is what im getting curently going to be it?

It is great to see the progress though :)
 
Think the only thing between us and a good internet connection is the DC shaper. They should have done what SAOL did, and give us unshaped 384, and anything above that, shaped.
 
Quick question I have seen on DC's site the minimum speeds listed but I havent seen a maximum speed listed for bursting too.
The way I understand bursting it will run at your max line speed if the bandwidth is available.
If there is a stated maximum for each packages where is it listed?
Im just wondering. I'm on a 384k line before anyone gets over excited.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read that it bursts to double the package you bought, not to your line speed. Axxess's "bursts" to your line speed after hours.
 
Well COD is not a good idea yet on this account...... the latency shoots up like one can't believe... and other times it's fine.
 
Just found this on thier FAQ.

How DigiChilli’s burst speed work?
We're guaranteeing a minimum service but you'll probably get full speed out

So from that statement I dont see why the guys with 4Mbit lines should not be allowed to burst to close to thier maximum line speed if the bandwidth is available.
DC just needs to ensure thier bandwidth management is up to par to ensure everyone gets the guaranteed minimums first.

Agreed, and the first step should be to put the bursting on hold and get people to at least their minimum speeds. ie. Throttle accounts to their designated package.
 
Ok, http international is as slow as a mule.

So they've done something with the torrent side of things. which suits me down to the ground.

i dont see how they would limit it to 2mb they said it burstble to 4mb+
 
I definately agree with that, atleast get everyone to the minimum of thier account which they signed up for before allowing bursting at all.

Thats not the issue, im trying to say if you have uncapped use it, as you dont have any limits. And obviously yes, me having a 4mb on this 256k package wont be nice downloading 24/7 as That would be selfish yes. I don't do it, and theres anyways nothing to download anymore.
