I also understand it to be burstable to whatever your line can handle... but that doesn't mean for a second that I expect to get 450kb/s on my line off a Mild package...

I expect to average around 30-40kb/s and I'll be happy with that.

Seblat5ch - If you're going to try and rubbish digichilli because you're not getting full line speed, then you need to go to a different ISP, they don't guarantee that you will, they're trying to guarantee that you will get a min speed of whatever the package is.

what exactly is meant when they say you get a minimum of 256Kbps? How wil u know u're getting that minimum? how many KBps equates to your minimum? and if its anything above that, is bursting taking place?

im just saying i want my min speed pf 1024kbps but i also want them to open the NZB

WOW guys great work! everything working 100%News servers actually downloading! 40 KB/s international...browsing very decent! torrents same, only local though, don't really download them internationally...when i close torrents i can see news increasing and vice verca..

I'm using giga news...and rapidshare...
All combined getting a steady 80KB/s will see if it bursts tom morning early...
Great!! Now lets see if it stays that way!
thanks again!

I've been lurking and watching the digichilli threads since this "too good to be true" offering came along, and have only registered now, hence my 1 post.

I was one of the excited masses jumping up and down, waiting for launch day so that I could get my hawt uncapped account. I opted for a MILD account which I'm sharing with a friend.

The first day was worse than dialup, by the second day things were awesome even better than I expected - 100kb/s. This "bursting" pwns I thought! This lasted for about 3 days, after which it's been downhill all the way.

I'm now at a point where international and local is dead - 0.5kb/s local and international, most sites time out, no steam, irc, gtalk etc.

This isn't happening. End of story.

Yes Dave and co are working around the clock, yes it's a new ISP and it's to be expected. Yes I can ask for a refund, but that is all besides the point.

Personally, I would test a "40 million rand" network with more than 50 people. Only testing with 50 people was an utter failure, real testing started in December and everyone is paying to be a tester.

South Africa is bandwidth starved, we're like a country of starving refugee's when it comes to the internet. So obviously when you offer uncapped at R300/R250 a month, hordes of people are going to sign up and go ape-sh*t - I know I did...or at least tried to.

An uncapped ISP needs to be able to handle this and have measures in place to accommodate this before going live. So how the hell can you test with only 50 users - its not exactly like it would have been difficult to get more users to test. So obviously everything fell over when it went "live" It's like offering a month long buffet in a refugee camp and expecting everyone to only calmly have one plate of food for the month.

I honestly think that Digichilli should give everyone December free, the fact that some people, myself included, have managed to download quite a bit is besides the point - this is uncapped, usage doesn't come into it. What does however, is that DC only works one day out of seven. That's a testing level of service, not a live level of service. It's a bit ironic that I can't open google while using an ISP that's a google reseller.

That being said, I sincerely hope that digichilli pull it off. They're currently the only chance that SA has at cheap uncapped and hats off to them for trying to make it happen! I've been watching the threads since day one and silently supporting them and trying to be patient. I'll be in my element if DC starts running as it should, but right now my hope is waning every day.

I want digichilli, not digi-lemon&herb.

December free? January too for all the frustration and years it has taken of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right guys

Everyone says things are good, but i cannot see any difference from this afternoon vs the last 5 days.

Still getting tons of packet loss to rapidshare etc, torrents are slow. Local is fine.

Just as it was.

Advise?

Set the download speeds to show up as Kbits instead of Kbytes/s, it'll look much faster! =D

Like flashvc said - 32KByte/s

More like 256kbit/s divided by 8 minus 20% "overhead"

256/8 - 6.4 = 25.6KBytes/s

Why would there be any overhead? That should only apply to your line speed.

If 256Kbps is guaranteed on a 384k line, you should get minimum 32KBps.

* Torrents 30kb-50kb
* HTTP Fine, Browsing, Youtube, Facebook etc..
* Gaming Modern Warfare 2, Steam, Dota, TF2 all work perfectly

First bit of positive news I see in this thread, if they can iron out all the niggles, I'll also signup, but until then I'll steer clear for now. But good to see DC working hard on solving network issues etc. :)

What account are you logged into?
Surely not a DC one?

I got the complete opposite to you:

Http browsing - not good, youtube not loading a random vid, facebook taking a long time, some int sites taking long (usually quickish)
Steam - still deader than that dead thing.. Sitting at "connecting to Steam"
Impulse download (goes via port 80 or 443) used to do 10kb/s now nadda.
ping to google timing out
Ping statistics for 209.85.227.147:
Packets: Sent = 15, Received = 13, Lost = 2 (13% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 306ms, Maximum = 315ms, Average = 311ms

I'm not feeling the love.
and this was the same before I turned my router off for a couple of minutes and then and on again about 20 min ago.

Anyone else struggling to connect?

Ok. Ignore please. I did manage to connect with DG account.
