How about we give DigiChilli a chance to sort themselves out. Nobody was complaining about the terrible service on the WA trial accounts for the first little while?

Yes, the difference is the Web Africa trial was FREE, DigiChilli on the other hand are long passed their "trial phase" (which I think they should still be doing) and are charging their customers while they fix their network? I mean, doesnt that sound strange to you? Why not have the trial run for a longer period of time, fix all the issues, put the shaper in place (which I also think is ridiculous) and once EVERYTHING is sorted, launch your product. DigiChilli are in essence charging people for a trial. This service we are getting from DigiChilli right now is a trial, and people are paying for it.

Edit: And what I find even MORE ridiculous and what makes me even MORE angry, is that people are actually accepting this and are happy to continue paying for it!
I'll bet the DigiChilli staff are laughing at how **** people are. They are making money off people who accept poor service. Shame

@ RiNCEw1ND complaining about the WA trial acc - How dare you complain about a FREE account. Do you know what BETA testing means? If not, I suggest you run along to a dictionary and/or thesaurus website and look it up. Another thing, bet you were one of the lucky few who was able to use the FREE WA trial accs and still complained about it! ....oh ...I have one more thing to say to you ..... GET OFF YOUR SOAP BOX!

Its nice to complain BUT accompany it with some constructive cricitism, suggestions and possible solutions. You contradicting yourself, in one instance you ask users to be patient while DC sort then themselves out and in the very next breath you slander WA!

@ drukkie

you squeeze a cactus or something!!!

it waisted 5mins your time but not only did you read it but also took another 5mins to type your lame one liner .... go PMS somewhere else!

this is what i love about some the posters on these forums - they post things that they can complain about, in flying colours i might add, but are never really there with some constructive solutions, ideas and/or suggestions.....

run along now....go play with RiNCEw1ND

Well said

Why so tripple post?

The point I'm trying to make, is that DigiChilli are attempting to give the best priced ADSL in the country, and we are all sitting here complaining? Give the guys a chance. They have made the provision for a refund, if you aren't willing to put up with it for a little while, go get your refund and go somewhere else.

Hi Al,

As already said, we apologise for upsetting you. I think your defending all the other paying users is commendable if rather misguided. You haven't paid for this service.

Your usage this month:
Total Upload: 15.86 GB
Total Download: 24.99 GB
Total Combined: 40.86 GB

In usage, this doesn't compare to your 10Gig free trail from WA.

So, even though it was really bad, if you were on the Spicy R300 package your cost per Gig is R7.42. If purchased from Afrihost, whom we consider to have the best Seacom per Gig network, it would have cost you R1,160.

We are not laughing at the situation. We have mostly mature users who understand what our mission is and support us in this quest. We understand the issues. We take them seriously. We are dealing with these issues. We are committed to bringing a good product to the market. For those that feel they have not received enough value, we have a refund policy which people are making use of where necessary.

In retrospect:
We launched in December 2009. We've pushed more than 10% of the total network traffic of MTNNS, and 2% of the full IS/MWeb network in our first month.

For users information, I'll post average usage a bit later to illustrate the difference between networks that charge per gig and uncapped with average usages etc.

@ Grim3vil

Thanks!! I'm just of these dudes that just fly in to the forum to stir and you never see them again. I think we should giving them tissues for their issues?

That was RiNCEw1ND's first post and WOW!....what an impression! narrow-minded, stereo-type and....wait for it.....nah ...its fine.... gonna hold off on the sarcastic remarks...two wrongs don't make a right...

@ RiNCEw1ND - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hi Dave,

The problem, imho anyway, is not with how much has or hasn't been downloaded - DC is offering an uncapped service, therefore usage is besides the point.

The issue is with uptime/reliability, sure there's no argument that going with Afrihost would cost a fortune, but the difference is that Afrihost is reliable. I've never had a whole week go by with Afrihost where I had 2KB/s up, 1KB/s down.

All I want, and I'm sure quite a few other people want, is "Minimum guaranteed speed of 256 kbps." 24/7/365 across ALL protocols.

Get that right, and all the people complaining and whining will be singing your praises.

Seeing some of the posts now, makes me think if I have received value for money this month.

To be perfectly fair to DC, the stability of the network has improved in leaps and bounds. A week to 2 ago, I couldnt guarantee that I would be able to login 1st of all, 2ndly that I would get any intl downloads.

Now that has changed somewhat.

Onto the value statement - their has been alot of nail biting and hair pulling and frustration. However I have managed to download +- 11g on a 384 line thus far, so hopefully can end the month on +- 15g. Using Afrihost I would have paid close onto R 450. Yet I paid R 240, a saving of +- R 200.
However this is not true saving as during the periods of no connectivity I had to use my other accounts - Afrihost and G Connect - which came at a max cost of R 35/g.

So all in all not what I paid for, but getting there. Next month will be crucial to DC.

here is what my nagios is telling me. Same as yesterday, except yesterday it went down at 14:26 and came back online at 22:16.

f104.1e100.net PING CRITICAL 12-28-2009 13:05:25 0d 2h 17m 16s 1/3 PING CRITICAL - Packet loss = 100%

So true!

Nicely said .QQ.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter.

+1 I have to agree with this.

I am not concerned about how much I do ro dont manage to download in a month.

All I want is to be able to download something when I want it at the Minimum Speed garaunteed.
I want to be able to connect to steam and get my game updates without worrying about hitting my cap.
I want to be able to stream Youtube videos without waiting and age.
I want to be able to play WoW.

This is not asking alot it should be provided, I am paying for a service after all.

Currently I cant even connect to my DC account.

+1000000000000000000

I couldnt have said this better myself! This is exactly what I am talking about!

@CambodiaDave: Im not interested in how much I have downloaded this month, please dont find that as an excuse to use when trying to cover up. The fact is, your network is unstable, and your charging people for it. I commend you for giving refunds, but at the same time, you shouldnt be charging for it in the first place (until your network is 100% fully functional and stable). Do you have any idea how many times I actually have to reset my router because the connection dies and the red light on my router goes on? Or refreshing webpages because its taking waaay too long to load? I shouldnt have to do this, and neither should anyone else, and if they are, then they shouldnt also have to pay for it.

+3 total usage is not the issue, surely if i download at 6k/sec, 24/7 for 30 days i can download like 15 gig or something which at R300p/m is a lot cheaper than the competition. But it means i cant do anything quickly and im far off minimum guaranteed speed, i cant use the service for gaming or any other protocols.
im getting 1.1k/sec off my FTP and 6k/sec off http. If you wanted to get a torrent for instance by the time its finished the seeds may be gone, and youve wasted gigs...

The science is simple they oversold, there is no hope as current that all users can get minimum speed until proven otherwise. The reason why the trial users were happy is because the 5 of them was as much as the network could handle.
I really hope for SA DC can come right, they just not giving us hope.
