DigiChilli Network Status

Connected fine. But no change on the speed front. Local is fine. Intl. i seem to cap out at 1.0KB/s.

Well I restarted my modem, took over an hour to be able to connect again and now my speed:

:(

It was

0.25
0.09
1300ms

Yep - my speed now sucks as well. They have always used Google DNS servers. I phoned them in the week to ask about this - still waiting for that call back. I'm thinking December may be my last month with Digichilli.

Also, why we using google dns?

We are using Google DNS, because it is free and public. Haven't you discovered that DC tries all the cheap ways out.

They use Google Apps for their email, which is also free to use (not to mention DC are asking money for extra emails :wtf:), whereas other ISPs usually have their own servers for SMTP.

Their DNS, isn't a dedicated server, just a free public one.

Their website uses Joomla, which is a free CMS, they don't need an expensive web designer.

For a R40 million investment, they use a lot of cheap or free side-steps.

Fair enough - allows the price to be what it is but pity about the issues though. Wouldn't complain about all those cheap methods if it worked

Nothing wrong with that, in fact I'd say that's a smart way of making sure a R40 million investment doesn't turn into a R80 million one.

If google dns is superior to what they can provide then they should utilize it and I'll be damned if anyone tells me anything an isp provides is better than good old gmail.

Even having set up a great deal of exchange setups in my time....I cry tears of joy each time I get back to gmail and it's notfullof****nessity.

Steam & Windows LIVE wont even connect for my gaming pleasure

My speed has gone up quite good? Latency is still incredibly high (1900ms)

speed now is 0.27 , up 0.10...

Sorry Sally. We're working on it.
:(

Dave I really appreciate that you're still working at this hour, I really really do. Its becoming increasingly hard to be satisfied with the DC service. But I will stick it out, if for no other reason, then because of your dedication.

i cannot even connect now :(

Password error.

Same here this is really pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Invalid password for me too.

EDIT: It connected after several retries.

Not a valid bitch/problem:
These are all (99%) standard authentication timeout things.

How it works is you login to the auth server, it 'remembers' you for the next 10 (substitute 10 for whatever DC are using) minutes, then it checks if you are still there and does this every 10 minutes.

When you only have 1 simultaneous login and disonnect your router, you might be at the start of the 10 minute cycle and then have to wait another 9 minutes for the auth server to see if you're still there. Since you're not there, it will clear your session and you can now login again.

What you could ask is if Seacom is running at full speed.

If it is, then what is the difference between people routing their torrents over port 80 and people downloading multiple OS ISO's?

The bandwidth being used should be the same in both cases and it should be capped according to their package.
If there isn't enough bandwidth to go around then the solution would be to get more from Seacom. If this is not financially feasible then the entire business plan needs a serious going over as money in < money out.

Hope them gremlins are dying fast!
