Not to sound like a wet blanket here and as much as I am all for downloading.....perhaps what really needs to be done is some serious speed limiting regarding users that are running the service via 4mb lines?

Surely if one user is getting 100-200kBs when he only paid for 32kBs it might be nice for him but that *theoretically* means 5 more users that can't achieve their guaranteed speeds because of one.

Maybe implement the model I once heard a bit of hoopla about instead where the package is burstable to twice the offering (256 to 512 and 512 to 1mb etc....)?

Either way if we can all get our 256kb/32kB and sometimes a little more I don't think there'll be any justifiable complaints.

Afaik the burstable thing Basjohn mentioned is how these accounts work anyway?

I am on a 4MB/s line and am getting on average +-32kB/s so it looks like it has been implemented.

EDIT - It fluctuates between 14-32kB/s on HTTP download (FireFox - No download manager)

That's what I thought until I saw several users boasting about 100-200kB download speeds on here....now I'm not really sure myself.

Remember there might also be users that subscribed to the more expensive accounts.... and those are (or should be) faster.

30-50kb/s international download with manager on 4mb line
Local speed test

Ah right right I had just figured we all were on spicy or mild since the other packages are rather......frightfully pricey in comparison. Silly me on that one but I'd still be interested to see if anyone on a 4mb line and a 256k package is getting above 512k.

A little bit annoying, my pppoe connection keeps on dropping. Always before a download completes. :(

downloading at 10kbs max, this is not on. I hope they fix their problems soon. I will not pay for slow internet. Thank god I'm still using the trial account and havent paid for it yet.

nah, downloading Windows Live Messenger. Gonna check thru normal http downloads and torrents

It's very slow again.

Hangs most of the time when trying to log in. Cannot teleport from one place to the next in Secondlife (http) without crashing.

5 -20k speeds fluctuating.

Downloads this morning still slow, below 10 kbs, but the pings look good, and no request time outs. Now Dave and Co must just get the speed to a guaranteed 32 kbs...

It happened twice to me.... and both times I was almost done with rather large http downloads.
Strange thing is though, it only happens on my Windows machine. My Linux machine never drops the line.
