Dirk Prinsloo caught

Johannesburg - International fugitive and sex crimes accused Dirk Prinsloo has been captured, Eyewitness News reports.

EWN said Prinsloo was arrested on Friday afternoon after he and two accomplices tried to rob a bank in the Republic of Belarus.

The police’s Sally de Beer confirmed it to Eyewitness News.

"Interpol has confirmed that Dirk Prinsloo was arrested at 17:30 on Friday the 12th of June by the Criminal Investigative Department of the Republic of Belarus,” said De Beer.

It is understood Prinsloo and two other men tried to rob a bank earlier in the week.

His two accomplices were captured by bank staff and police tracked Prinsloo down two days later.

Prinsloo has been on the run since May 2006, when he failed to return from a holiday in Russia.

The former Pretoria advocate had been on trial with his co-accused Cezanne Visser on several charges, among them the sexual abuse of children.

At last.

Awesome!! That is wonderful news. Hopefully when he's served his sentence there they will extradite him here.

I hope this punk rots in jail for the rest of his life.
Destroying the lives of innocent children.

I checked and unfortunately Belarus does not apply the death penalty to bank robbers or fugitives.
He will most probably be deported and the trial together with Barbie will start all over again. She must be sh1tting herself right now.

From Rapport
Op pad uit het Prinsloo sy masker, ’n botteltjie gassproei en ’n speelgoedpistool neergegooi,”

On his way out he threw a bottle of pepper spray, balaclava and toy gun on the ground.

He must have been really desperate. But I have absolutely no sympathy for this pervert.

"Advocate Barbie" won't like this at all! Now she cannot take to the stand with her accusations that she was the innocent victim, without Dirk Prinsloo being able to defend himself. Do not get me wrong, I am also glad that he has been caught, but that pathetic poppie just irritated me endlessly.

I think Belarus will have first crack at him. I wonder if they have an extradition treaty with SA. If not, then he's going to learn Russian.

I don't think he is right in the head. The things he said and wrote to the media just sounds like a man with mental problems.

Dirk Prinsloo, one of South Africa's most wanted criminals, has been arrested in Belarus in Eastern Europe following an attempted bank robbery.

Prinsloo jumped bail more than three years ago while standing trial with his ex-fiancee Cezanne Visser, also known as Advocate Barbie, after the Pretoria High Court had granted him permission to travel to Russia.

This prompted a worldwide search for the man accused of a series of sex crimes in South Africa and who became one of the world's 130 most wanted criminals.

Prinsloo had said in email correspondence sent to the media in April that he felt that his "end is probably near".

On Friday that end arrived when Belarus police nabbed him for his alleged part in a failed bank robbery in the town of Baronovichi on Wednesday, 702 news reported on Saturday night.

Police spokesperson Director Sally de Beer, said Interpol had confirmed Prinsloo's arrest on Saturday morning after informing the South African Police Service of his arrest on Friday night.

Balaclava-wearing Prinsloo and two alleged accomplices armed with a firearm and a knife tried to rob a bank on Wednesday.

"They demanded cash, but the cashiers in the bank refused to co-operate with them.

"The bank staff overpowered the two accomplices, who were arrested when police arrived, but Prinsloo fled.

"The local police tracked him down and arrested him on Friday at 5.30pm," said De Beer.

The Belarus police have formally acknowledged that Prinsloo is wanted in South Africa and have offered their full co-operation in extraditing him to stand trial in Pretoria.

He will, however, only be extradited after he has stood trial in Belarus and served time in jail, if found guilty of the attempted bank robbery.

"We will, however, start the extradition process in the meantime," said de Beer.

The arrest of Prinsloo came six months after crime intelligence boss Ray Lalla met the Russian, Czechoslovakian and Belarus police in Russia about Prinsloo.

"It shows we were on the right track. We are very happy to hear that he is behind bars," said De Beer.

In court, Visser has denied guilt on 14 charges ranging from rape and soliciting minors to commit indecent acts to manufacturing child pornography.

Her trial is set to resume tomorrow after it was postponed in March.

Thanks Nihilist.

So he will first be jailed in Belarus and then stand trial here in SA.
Wonderful....

In prison dirk will have done to him what he has done unto others. Enjoy, dirk.
