Sex crimes accused Dirk Prinsloo will first face justice in Belarus before he can be extradited to South Africa, police said on Sunday.

"[Extradition] is just a process, we'll initiate it in the course of this week. He will first have to stand trial there. Should he be found guilty and if he is sentenced, then he will have to serve his sentence," said SA Police Service spokesperson Director Sally de Beer.

Prinsloo was arrested with two accomplices in Belarus on Friday after attempting to rob a bank.

"I think it was an unusual turn of events, but obviously we're pleased, it's good work done by police in Belarus," said De Beer.

I think this is bad news for Barbie's defence team.

I think she has made him the scapegoat whereas she took part in everything knowing very well what they were doing is illegal.

They should both do a long stretch.:D

Seeing that he is an alleged child molester, this is pure poetic justice that a child should lead to his arrest :)

He had better hope the news of his adventures in SA doesn't spread to Belarus; even serial murderers look down on rapists there. I know someone who had a family member in Russia who was raped and killed by 2 guys she knew. They were caught and sent to jail - now one is in a mental asylum and the other one commited suicide. One can only imagine what they would do to a child rapist.

Belarus is a separate country, but they still have a lot left over from the old Soviet Union when it comes to values like these.
 
No. I expected someone to point out that Belarus is a separate country from Russia and decided to justify my extrapolation by pointing out where they are linked. Unfortunately I can't foresee every perspective or possible way someone could jump to some conclusion. Anyway, posts full of disclaimers take too long to type.
