Hi there,

I got a marconi wireless ADSL modem from Telkom with my ADSL installation.

I already got a LINKSYS wireless router that I prefer to use.

Can anybody tell me how I disable functionality on the marconi so that it does nothing but function as the ADSL modem?

Cheers,

You want to dissable all functionality and let it work as an ADSL modem only?
do you meen disabling the wireless and enabling the bridge? are u wanting to use your linksys router at all? maybe as a wireless access point?

Yes, I want to disable all but modem functionality and use my Linksys router as my wireless access point.

AFAIK it is not possible to disable the wireless functionality on the Marconi WiFi

umm, i dunno if u have the same router as me, but on mine u can disable JUST the wireless and still operate all the other functions? is that what u want?

I used the Marconi WiFi for about 6 mths and could never find a way to disable wireless - as per telkom support & marconisa it could not be done.

Yip it cannot be done, however if you are worried about people connecting to your wifi router, disable the DHCP server and apply some 128 bit WEP encryption. This should keep the casual wardriver/walker out of your lan. Folding the arial away will probably also reduce the footprint.

ummm, i dunno of we are talking about the same router here, but on mine just go to "10.0.0.2" or whatever ur routers ip is, in ur browser, then go to configuration > wireless. Then look at the 12 th setting is "disable" set that from "false" to "true"! and that should do it!

again, i dunno if we are talking about the same router as the one i have is a new realese acclaimed by telscum?

The modem I am referring to is this one:

However it is possible that the firmware has been upgraded and this option has now been added;)
