Disconnections every hour?

Setup a manual connection in Windows, set it to redial every 30 seconds and to redial upon disconnection

That's what I do... works like a charm.

Doesn't work properly in Windows 7 :(

This method worked in vista up until 7 days ago but now it just will not re connect unless i do it myself every single hour....

Thanks, I didnt even think of that as i am on the unlimited prime package and besides that my downloads for the month have been the worse ever recorded due to terrible download speeds. i dont even think i got 30gigs for the month!!!!

No way am I being capped...haven't downloaded that much at all!
I'm probably in the 20's but nowhere near 30!
If we had a useage tracker this would be able to tell us...

Its not about how much you've downloaded. Its about how much bandwidth neotel has left. Almost every month at month end my connection went to hell. Sometimes only came right about the 6th.

My UMR is telling me that its losing connection every 14 seconds. Much worse here than anywhere else... Douglasdale tower, Sandton (PN320)

My connection also disconnects about every hour, sometimes it will be random and sometimes it will aslo battle to recconect. My Dovado router keeps my connection alive and I still get great speeds.

My signal is 4 bars on the phone and downloads on torrents and NZB's go over 200KB/s

I check the coverage on Neotel website today and saw this:-

Voice and High Speed Internet Services - Not Covered

And when I call the call centre then I battle to get through to someone and sometimes I must ask them to speak louder because I can hardly hear them

Thats how mine has always been setup, for some reason or the other also over the last few days have been noticing disconnections, not sure if it's hourly but everytime I am back at PC I have to redial. No complaints about speeds, still getting 136kb/s download and 72kb/s upload on NeoConnect Lite Uncapped, first time in a long time I have done 10 gigs in the month comfortably.

So because Neotel cannot provide what they're offering I'm the one suffering. What a great business model! Why didn't I think of it first? I could've been the one screwing the nation our of their money! :D

Not me... I'm still getting disconnections. I hope they sort this out.

I had this problem the other day, it seems to have been fixed now though. My Speeds have actually increased by over 50kbps :o

Im in Cape Town and mine is still disconnecting every single hour without fail and refuses to reconnect on its own. When i am connected the speed is the best i have ever seen since being with Neotel. if only i could stay connected i might be happy with my setup!!!

Seems like neotel cancelled my contract 2 days early, username and password invalid. I must say that using my phone for internet is such a joy... if only it was not so expensive.

Can someone please help me to resolve this error on Windows 7: "Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established." I get this error almost every time I try connecting after a disconnection. It's very annoying as I always have to reboot to get my connection working again.

Windows 7 has a very useful - and irritating feature. It has an internal firewall thingy that blocks all communication to an IP or COM port when there are attempts to connect and is unsuccessful. Now this helps on a global scale when tracert'ing IPs for websites, but it also means that after something that your PC is connected to dies, your PC must restart to "unblock" it.

I have the same problem every time neotel disconnects and my UMR restarts. My PC blocks the UMR, which I must then always restart...

As far as I know, there is no cure :/

Thanks agentrfr; looks like i'll have to downgrade to xp.

Ok now i can't connect at all because of authentication errors. WTF?!

posting from my cellphone btw.
