Disconnections every hour?

Hey guys,

I have ( somewhat ) of a solution which helps me a little.

I made a batch file and scheduled it for every 30 minutes, so if my connection dies during the night, the batch file connects me up again.

here is the command:

RASDIAL [connection name] [username] [password]

oh and I dunno if this helps but I have the same problem with the disconnects.

Im in CT and apparently the network here is heavily conjested. Too many people are connecting to 1 tower in their area and it kicks others off. They are in the process of building base stations and stuff here to deal with the problem......though they said "it will take a very long time"

How exactly did you schedule it?

This was the exact problems Neotel was experiencing last year at the end of year. Towers are becomming congested as more and more people are at home during the day nearer to the December holidays. Hopefully this year there will be some kind of service during December

So I just had a call from Neotel...finally! After two months of being promised to be called back. Mpho asked me for my tower number and RSSI and then said that a technician would call me back today or tomorrow "to sort me out". They might have to install an external antenna to boost my signal.

Nothing has changed. My coverage is still the same according to the Neotel website, I'm still on the same tower (144) and my RSSI is always in the -80's range. So why when everything has stayed the same since I've been on Neotel, would I now need an external antennae to boost my signal and stop me being disconnected? Or am I being uninformed and could this really counteract the disconnections?

Congestion, weather and the like do affect stability of your connection.
Lets see what happens with the callout and proposal.
Let me know if noone has commed a callout time with you by 12H00 tomorrow.

Mpho is one of my team, and is excellent at resolution.

Ok im finding that i get random dcs but its not exactly every hour, just kinda happens every so often, it says im still connected to the net but my msn, skype and mIRC all just disconnect. When i dc i get the message "[10053] Software caused connection abort", anyone know how i can resolve this problem?

@samuraix also in midrand here and exactly the same with neoflex - just dies, sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes, looks like every 2 - 3 hours or so.

currently neoflex has been down for over 30 minutes, lite working but cutting off the whole time.....I suppose neotel can blame the storm for this one:rolleyes:

Okay, I'm sick of this shyte now Hugo, seriously, it's been happening to me all bloody night.

Not every hour, almost like every 30 minutes.

For the last 1 hour (It's 9:58pm) I was unable to connect, would verify username and password and just fail.

restarted, turned device on and off, same story all the time.

Time for some answers buddy! seriously now!

Cape town is completely dead. Hugo we might be mates but holy smoke dude.

Sending from my phone at the moment

Well then there's been one helluva storm going on for two weeks straight 24 hours a day, because I get continuous disconnections at all hours. Can't keep a connection for more than 59 min and it started out of nowhere. This is not a storm / weather problem. If it is weather related, it must be because we've been having fantastic summer weather in CT. If this is the case then we're in trouble, there are more summer months in CT than winter and Neotel doesn't like the summer then. Tsk Tsk...

shame, no 1.7mb/s today, I feel your pain :(

I've finally got my usual pedestrian slow 0.2 back

I think someone pressed the BIG red button at Neotel HQ that says: "Don't push this button or you'll screw up our network"

There always has to be one!

I've got an unusual perhaps solution to the 1 hour disconnections:

You can use a program to automatically click your mouse every hour.
So you could leave your mouse on the Connect button when you hit the hay so all through the night you can continue downloading without having to wake up every hour to reconnect!

Here's a link to the one I use which can be used freely for this:

http://www.topshareware.com/Autoclicker-download-617.htm

It's just a solution if you're downloading overnight really. And if there is a problem reconnecting, which seems to be seldom with me, then you'd lose an hour of downloading here and there.

Hope this helps :)

@InfinInfo Nice but why do we have to find solutions for Neotel **** ups
