Disconnects on VPN

Hi,

I work a lot from home by means of connecting to a VPN at work. I'm not sure what the setup at work is (I work for a large corporate) , but the client I use to connect is Nortel Contivity.

I have been working fine on the VPN via my router for the past 2 years or so......but am experiencing a problem now where I get disconnected after a minute or two. If I work with 3G, it works without issue, so its got to be something with my router. I can confirm that nothing has changed on my router......I have the working config backed up and if I restore to that....It still disconnects.

See an excerpt from my Nortel Contivity logs:

Wed May 26 14:53:12 2010 | Isakmpd | I | Keepalive sent. 2 left, next one in 30 seconds.
Wed May 26 14:53:43 2010 | Isakmpd | I | Keepalive sent. 1 left, next one in 15 seconds.
Wed May 26 14:53:58 2010 | Isakmpd | I | Keepalive sent. 0 left, next one in 7 seconds.
Wed May 26 14:54:06 2010 | Isakmpd | F | Connection lost due to no response from keepalives or no incomming packets for 2 minutes.

I have tried more than 1 PC......
Tried 3 different firmwares on the router .....
Restored to factory settings on router ....
Tried 3-4 different ISP's
Tried 3 different versions of Nortel Contivity

The only thing I havent tried is another router - as I dont have another one to test.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you connect via ADSL, get Telkom to do a line test.

Yes, I am only having the problem on ADSL.........3G works fine.

My line seems to be fine. No disconnects when downloading and even Xbox Live works without problems....... Its only the VPN that gives me problems.

I'm afraid to get Telkom involved as they might screw up the line totally ......and everything else is fine.

Problem resolved (with the help of the networks guys here at work). There were some settings changed on the server at work , so I had to make a small client-change.
