Discovery Bank

When I applied it only gave me the option of a platinum card, I can also open up the fee savings account and fixed term accouo, but when I try to open up the 1+ account/transactional acc nothing happens? It doesn't even say suite account .. confused

So do you have the R60p/m Platinum credit card only package? Platinum R135p/m is CC with separate transaction account included as far as I understand it.

Does anyone here (who have gone through the onboarding process and may have asked Discovery this) know what the rules/restrictions are around upgrading from one suite to another i.e. sign up for Gold card suite now and upgrade to Platinum/Black suite later?
I downgraded from a black suite to a black credit card because I don't want two transactional accounts. It wasn't an issue, they just had to log a query with their back office. Took about two days to finalise. Can't imagine that an upgrade would be any different. They would need to send you a new Visa card though, and might charge for delivery.

Why did you get two transactional accounts with the Black suite?

I can't seem to add a platinum suite account?

All suite products (One+) have two transactional accounts, as far as I know. One is linked to the credit card like an FNB/RMB Fusion account, the other is a standalone cheque account. I don’t need two so I closed the standalone cheque. The pricing is a bit silly though, because the One Account is pay-as-you use, and the interest rates are different. Hoping they will review their model.

So many people have been invited, and I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs :(
Honestly, you’re not missing much. I won’t be making them my primary bank anytime soon. Feels very much like a beta product at the moment. There’s very little information about Vitality money etc, available and their bankers don’t seem to know much either.

I hear you, I'm just stuck between wanting to use samsung pay, and not wanting to use my FNB card as I don't earn miles on it. hahaha

I don’t even think we’re earning miles yet. Discovery miles were never meant to be part of the bank and only got added as an afterthought recently. The only current active benefit I’m aware of is swipes counting towards your Active Rewards goal for smoothies etc. Could be wrong about the miles though - like I said there’s zero information out there.

You’ll need to call them to add it if you didn’t select a suite product during sign-up.
Thanks but the option never came.up during sign up unless.i missed it

I agree I'm pretty disappointed, but maybe I just got to get used to it, it's all very confusing and still don't have any brochure with prices etc that property explain, when I go to the rewards section via the disc app it loads errors . Trying to work out how to achieve weekly money reward goals like so many transactions over a certain amount plus I need to have R1000 in a bank .

Jeepers... reading through and I'm thinking to myself this is a pathetic attempt of a launch (hardly any info out there) by an established entity like Discovery.

Tyme I can understand... this I can't.

I'm seeing way too many negative posts here to actually join the bank (still haven't gotten an email even though I applied last year) and the account I want to get, receives no benefits. I will hold out for now

No restrictions on this as long as you qualify for the package. Obviously there will be a 'fair usage' policy applied so that people wont abuse the system.

Edit: I am talking nonsense! 3 month waiting period between changes!

I would imagine a cool down period. What’s stopping people from upgrading and downgrading accounts after buying flights.

The 50% off for international flights is only for black cards as well as getting the 100% gym.booster for premiere membership. Oh and also the lounge visits are only for the black card, which you have to earn over 750k a year. ...dam

So discovery bank won't have a no monthly fee account for poor folks like me.
