Discovery Car Insurance

Opposite experience, fender bender Sat evening...by Monday car was in for repairs. Had car back in a week....settled the 32k bill without a fuss.
Problem was the payout was R270K, and claim admin did not the authority to approve above R150K. So he could not be bothered to escalate in time to get it approved.

1. As far as I know, you can get the DQ tracker or use the app, but I might be wrong. A Beame serves a different purpose, it's for stolen vehicle recovery only where as the DQ tracker or the app tracks driving behaviour such as over speeding, harsh acceleration etc.
2. Yes and no, as far as I know, the premium is based on the normal insurance stuff like where you live, your age, previous accidents etc. So effectively, I suppose it is linked to your previous driving history, but not from Discovery specifically. The potential discount off your premium every month is based on how you drive and the information / data comes from the DQ tracker.
3. I am not with Discovery Insure yet, but I am moving over. Two of my colleges are with them and they get discount off their premiums every month. One of them has claimed and had no issues with the claim process.

My friend drives a like a "****" his premium's are not effected, his only on 2 stars for driving on the app.

This is all covered in the quotation and related documents you should have received.

1. You don't need to get the tracker, it's optional.
2. If you take the optional tracker you can get discounted on the agreed premium, it won't go up because of it.
3. As a medical aid, piss poor in general. But friends on their insurance are quite happy.

Thanks for the responses. I officially moved over to Discovery today

Remember this thread and come back in six months with some comments.

I did almost move to them beginning of last year but then my current insurer just matched their offer (outside of the discount thing) with the same cover for premium.

I'll report back.

King Price was good. I'll go back in 6 months if they offer me something better.

Discovery was fine until after a hijacking they start pumping premium increases. I'm looking at Naked at the moment as my annual King Price is now too high for my cars. Annoying thing is, they don't want to answer the calls around any policy management: claims and new quotes yes but choose policy management and its hold central, disconnects or we'll call you back. Shocking service today.
