Discovery Vitality [2018]

My very first surprise reward was a R100 voucher - only core rewards after that. Back then you at least spun the wheel "manually". Now its automatic. Think you have better odds winning with a one-armed bandit in a casino... Nice way of rewarding your customers for reaching their goals 3 weeks in a row #rewardsthatactuallysuck

As they are having issues, will we still achieve our weekly goal if the gym visits are not reflecting on their system? Or do we have tin send a screen shot?
 
I think the whole system is messed up.

Was fighting with them this week. My vitality disappeared from my profile last Friday. Phoned into find out why, they say on their system I haven't paid since October, I toss my toys cos its always been debited, transfer me to the billing dep, they say they can see the payments. Luckily the lady who I spoke to in the billing dep, knew the call centre agent I spoke to previously so she just walked over to her and proved that I'd been paying the whole time. Within 2 hours my vitality was back.

If you over 36 visits you will only be charged the 25% fee (+/- R150-200) from Virgin Active. You get award this value or part this of later from Discovery via EFT to bank or Loaded on Discovery credit card (depends on how/if you set the cashback method for Vitality.. note, each dependant needs to set it which is dumb).

Sucks that they still do debit order but I believe it’s because Virgin Active technically still gets 100 or 25% from the member(hence the 36 month threshold delay as it’s load on their system to change or something and a month late) and Vitality pays the member 0, 15 or 25% post fact. This gives quicker turn around than changing debit orders continually and close to end of month.

SO’s and mine for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc not showing. Only till Sunday.
 
Looks like it has caught up now(Virgin Active import)..
 
My mom is retiring at the the end of the month (she will be contracting at her work going forward) and I want to add her as a dependent on my medical aid. Am I allowed to add her and future date when she starts, if I apply now? How long does it normally take to process the application?
 
These Vitality rewards are a pain in the a$$ to use. Took me a half an hour to redeem the R100 PnP voucher with clueless staff and was second time...Would like a cash back option rather.
 
I used mine at pick n pay and dischem a while back had no issues, just told then I have a wicode

Yeah just took them a while to figure out what to do. Core rewards at Kahuai is fine. Thing is I don’t go to a Virgin where there is one so use those when I am in Sandton. And I don’t really go to the movies or get to a Mugg & Bean, so they go to that charity option most of the time. Think they can make rewards more “convenient” really. Uhm Dischem will be great though but never had that option?
 
Does the 3 week surprise rewards also only show up on a Wednesday morning after the 3rd week of reaching your goal?
 
My gym booster does not show.. Does it have anything to do with the type of Virgin active package you have ?

From what I can tell you need to have 36x visits for the year and next month’s deductible days (number days you went 11 months ago) in addition such that on the last day of the month when the calculation is done, you still have > 36 visits. Then you can enable it.

Keep in mind their billing system works retroactively for the 1st 75% so if you hit 36 visits too late in the month, you will still get billed for the full month.
 
Personally I see this as a fail.. their product design is wrong wrt what their app says. Surprised no one has taken them to task on it and complaining leads to support people not telling you what you need to know ie you need past 11 months to be > 36.. not 12 for booster to show.
