Just get a Garmin dude, you sound like you have the lifestyle where you will enjoy having it and make good use of itYes I've gotten all of those. 2 people, full points for health check, driving, healthyfood. Currently at around 75k points so need 25k more over next 5 months. To get the 25k though it'll be tight if 50 point activities dont count anymore , only 100points like gym/10k steps.
25k points as follows:
Currently it works out at 5x healthyfood for 5k.
5x good driving for extra 2.5k (1 car)
Then it leaves me with 17500 points to go =175 gym visits (87 each) which is 4 per week each for the rest of the year and above my run rate... So am looking how to close that gap, maybe time for a device as I do 10k steps just not by holding my phone all the time..
Was also just wondering whether you get vitality points from vitality money and if its significant?

Better payouts on life insurance depending on your payback integration selection.May I ask what the benefit is of getting to Diamond Health status? As far as I can see, if you get good readings for your health checks, you can maximise the HealthyFood discount regardless of whether you're Silver or Gold or Diamond. Is there some other perk to being on Diamond?
I like the concept of Garmin devices but not the look. All the watches and fitbits are big, those old fitbugs weren't bad, but not supported anymore...Just get a Garmin dude, you sound like you have the lifestyle where you will enjoy having it and make good use of it

Try samsung then. But I think the heart rate monitor on garmin is better. Its ok on. samsung watches.I like the concept of Garmin devices but not the look. All the watches and fitbits are big, those old fitbugs weren't bad, but not supported anymore...
Im not a fan of the size of Smartwatches in general. Does Samsung have a tiny device? Like the old fitbugs/addidas shoe tracker?Try samsung then. But I think the heart rate monitor on garmin is better. Its ok on. samsung watches.

Only on the old FNB credit card. No miles multiplier once you move to the Discovery Bank CC - which they force you to do once your current card expires.10x miles at partners.
Not Really. You get 25% back on HealthyFood (once you've done your Health Check and that online assessment) on your main partner regardless of your Vitality Health status. Ditto for HealthyCare and HealthyDining.Higher cashback percentage on pretty much everything.
Ahh.. That sucks. So Diamond gets me travel/hotel discounts only now... And life insurance if you're with them. Hmm.Only on the old FNB credit card. No miles multiplier once you move to the Discovery Bank CC - which they force you to do once your current card expires.
If you decide to get a device, don't forget that you can get 50% off a R4000 device with Vitality Active Gear (75% if you had bank).Yes I've gotten all of those. 2 people, full points for health check, driving, healthyfood. Shot for posting this. Was thinking the same thing today on my run… where I purposely went passed the gym to get water and a pee when swiping my card (I’m still on the free gym membership) and was met with a queue. Gym is at capacity. I’m questioning the cost / benefit as well as me being on the hamster wheel. R410 for vitality to get 4-1000 back a month. Tbh I think if I didn’t have this constant need where I feel I need to keep this gym membership just in case my kids want to swim post covid. I think I’m throwing in the towel soon.May I ask what the benefit is of getting to Diamond Health status? I did quite a deep dive into this when my old Discovery card was nearing its expiry date. It clearly made no sense for me, with my spending patterns, to go the full transactional account route, but I do like the benefits of having a credit card, and since the Discovery Card is not insanely more expensive than what else is out there, and since I'm in the Discovery ecosystem (Health and Life), it made sense to stick with them for the CC only. Now that I've been on the CC for 7 months, I've done the calculations and it's definitely worth it for me. I'm making between R160 and R500 more each month than I did before changing over.Ahh.. That sucks. So Diamond gets me travel/hotel discounts only now... And life insurance if you're with them. Hmm.
So ignoring the cynicism alarm bells going off behind these changes to force you to switch to their banking product when they're supposed to be a health company, is it worth using discovery bank? Are you easily able to cover the cost of the banking product with the benefits received vs just canceling Vitality and sticking to cheaper banking options instead?

I've moved over to both African Bank and Tyme Bank as transactional accounts. My debit orders go through Tyme (free), and my emergency fund sits there in goalsaves. Incoming money goes into African Bank to at least get a bit of interest (4%, I think, in the "savings pocket") and gets transferred to Tyme to cover debit orders. Manual EFTs can be made for free either from Tyme or African Bank.
If you don't like the idea of having a credit card, then see if you can set your credit limit on it to 0 and just put money in there to use it as a debit card. It's the cheapest way to get some of the benefits of Vitality Money.
Heart rate monitor will help a tremendous amount. FWIW @hj007 I purchased a suunto heart rate strap and have it paired with my Huawei Health app. Looking to buy the Samsung active 2 watch soon.Nope. Vitality money points is completely seperate and has nothing to do with Health's points.
Maybe look at investing in a heartrate monitor, it will help a lot.
That's a comparison between having the old CC with miles multiplier to having the new credit card only, with Vitality Money. So it's the extra cashback from HealthyFood (15%), fuel (10%), the extra weekly gameboard play and the weekly exercise points to miles conversion, compared with the miles multiplier miles earned on the old credit card.Anyway, you say you're making R160 to R500 more with them, is that comparing just having the credit card with no discovery bank versus now paying for Discovery Bank?

PS The new credit card with Vitality Money is slightly cheaper than the old credit card.
