Discovery Vitality in 2016

I am very happy about this as I regularly do activities for over 60mins or run for more than 10kms. In the past I would just get my 50 bonus points as I max the 15,000 normal sports points very early on in the month.

At least Diamond will be easier next year.

+1 it was a bit much to run 21 km and be rewarded with 200 points, that was really a joke so this makes much more sense?

They also only limit the fitness device upload to one device per day. So in my case I use my Garmin for my morning run and the rest of the day/gym a Nike+ Fuelband - Discovery is now only using one upload - makes no sense and they are stubborn to listen to my reasoning that this is a very common scenario. While it is very easy to rule out overlapping tracked exercises (i.e. wearing a running watch and another wearable at the same time should only take one exercise into account), there seem to be plenty of people around (according to the one Discovery agent I spoke to) who will wear two devices and have different time settings.

If you think of your fitness/healthy living as a lifestyle and not just as a means of discounts, it does not feel that bad. I wish Discovery would rather discount their premiums for active/healthy members.

I thought they have stopped the Nike+ sync now?

Discovery Card travel partners World Leisure Holidays, Contiki and Royal Carribean now form part of the cash back partner network. This means that you will earn up to 20% cash back every time you book your holiday.

This is BS. You used to get the 20% discount straight up, now it's with the "up to..." nonsense, i.e. you won't get it unless you spend a schitload of money on your DiscoveryCard elsewhere.

DiscoveryCard is pretty much useless anyways. Surprising, given that they're aiming to launch a bank - I'm sorry but ebucks has you beat.

Do you need a heart rate monitor to earn the points?
I run regularly using a gps tracking app (runkeeper) on my phone.
Can I use this, or do I need another app, and more equipment?

You can earn points through Strava runs and cycling that don't require a heartrate monitor. There are some pretty intense sounding goals that you can hit if you do have the monitor though.

Yes you can sync your Runkeeper app with Vitality for points.

Agreed. Just one 10k run per week and you earn 600 points (2 400 for a month and 31 400 for a year)

10k a week!

I should be doing that...why am I not doing that?

I need to do that.

MTB Cycling this year has been rewarded quite well.. I do a half marathon mtb (40km x5 for year) and get 3k perrace. Then add the 94.7 cycle and u get another +/-5k totalling 30k vitality points alone. Hence me saying i hit the 15k limit fast when i add step counter points + gym etc which is with bonus i pushed it to 17.5k this year haha.

They allocate your fitness points to one fitness activity per day but select the highest scoring one. So between your 150 point gym visit and your 200 point device upload they will pick the device upload.

Yes you can sync your Runkeeper app with Vitality for points.

Thanks - I linked my profile.
Can you confirm that Vitality will awards points for runs done with the Runkeeper app even if I don't use a heart rate monitor.
