Discovery Vitality in 2016

Of course it will shift the goal posts. That's the entire point. Gamification of your fitness.

if one is prepared to spend the time up front, eBucks can become a very viable benefit... imho.

At the end of the day Vitality is a money making scheme(look at their results if you dont believe me).Like politicians distort truth they make these programs complicated to quietly screw you over as you dont understand all the benefits ...Ebucks same

I think they should set targets on how active you should be rather than keep creating goals? surely the goals are going to reach a point that are not attainable? What about a good fitness routine, where do you go from that from week 1 to week 8?

Nobody will be in business to make a loss.
However you need to look at your personal situation to see if it benefits you.
Vitality fee I basically get back with the discount in gym fees. The other benefits are secondary, although I saved R2k on an international flight this year.
Ebucks is a completely different story, the only additional effort we needed to put in with the new rules is to dip into overdraft for one day to maintain the highest reward level, with the previous rules the was nothing extra required.
The overdraft fee is around R40, the amount of ebucks ranges from R1k - R2k & with 40% discounted makro vouchers we have managed to save lots while accelerating purchases of appliances, etc.

Got 3 out of 4 friends added as well now, and all 3 should always hit their goals :D
Funny how excited we get for even the smallest "free" stuff :p

How do you see if your friend requests have been accepted or who your friends are?
I have a few friends that I invited and accepted the invite but I never received any additional reward even though we've reached our goals

Any suggestions on how to link my TomTom Multisport device to Vitality without having to manually upload each workout file?

Figured a way. Create a Strava account, get the TomTom to upload to Strava, and link Strava to Vitality.

In the app -> vitality -> active rewards
It should show the initials of your friends there in 4 circles. No friends the circles have a plus inside

But if this thing goes up to 600 points needed in one week... it better not go higher than that, don't think I can make the time to get more points than that.

Is it just me or is the discovery app very slow and ustable with errors?
Also my virgin active gym workout for Saturday and yesterday is not showing under rewards, last week if reflected within hours, yet when I log into the virgin active website it shows my gym workout for sat and sun?

Points can take a while to reflect - in my experience anyway.

The Discovery app crashes all the time it's quite frustrating. But your workouts will show.

Yeah there's definitely a human limit to how much you can exercise a week.

Yeah I've been seeing at least a 50 point increase in what I need to achieve weekly.

Or even to have it work in a browser would be nice... If you're on IOS 7 (iphone 4) then that version of the app doesn't have the new rewards stuff.

Thank you for your email regarding the Vitality Active Rewards.

Due to the Windows running operating system, we do not have plans to make the Discovery App available. We do understand that this is frustrating; however we are working on having the Vitality Active Rewards available on the Discovery website, we will inform you once this functionality is up and running in the form of the Vitality newsletter or the Discovery website.

Time to dig my old android phone out of the cupboard to get some smoothies.

"Due to the Windows running operating system"

What the hell does that mean? Is Discovery marketing department filled with people that hate MS?

so what are you guys doing to hit the 550 goal?

550 is still quite easy for me. I upload my daily bike commute on Strava + the gym is downstairs from the office so at a minimum I swipe in every day to shower. So the gym swiping alone is 750 weekly points. I just hope they have some kind of a ceiling on how high they'll raise the goals. Someone should call and ask them about that.

The Discovery app is absolutely terrible, it's slow and often unresponsive. Vitality points can sometimes take a hour or a few days/week to add (this is not only on the app though, just general Vitality). One thing that i have noticed is that sometimes workouts just do not sync at all, so you really need to keep on top of this! It becomes a full time job really, not sure if its worth the rewards!

Just a heads up that some Strava workouts don't sync automatically with Vitality, they seem to go "missing" somewhere along the line. You need to manually send screenshots of these workouts from the Strava website to Vitality to actually be awarded the points...

Then rather use Movecount.com There is an app and it provides much more functionality (for free) than Strava. Sync perfectly with Vitality (and Strava)

The point is to get TomTom working with Vitality; the TomTom software syncs with heaps of services, but I'm not sure if Movecount is one.
