I realised I'm not fit and rested enough to get and maintain high heart rate whilst weight training. Asking for trouble in pursuing it.Hmmm.. Interesting..
Gonna have to test this when it doesn't matter.
So has anyone done the numbers on next year's points?
Getting to gold is so easy, that I don't bother with working it out. Do the big things and you will get there very early in the year.
- biokineticist fitness test (can do 2 times a year if you must)
- wellness day (weight, length, stomach width ect)
- hiv test
- dietician (can do 2-3 times a year if you must)
- non-smoke declaration
With the above you will be on silver and almost on gold. Go to the gym a few times or do the active rewards for a few months and you will be at gold or far beyond gold.

In 2017 there is only 1000 points on offer for visiting a dietician.
Yeah, always found it easy to get to gold - but just heard some people talking... they've changed a lot of the things... one of which is only one fitness assessment a year.... have a feeling this is gonna keep happening until it's like ebucks... a million levels that no one really knows how they work
I've given up on the team reward. As long as I meet my goal, I get my full rebate.

So that is a possible 31k points that will get you to silver, then you need another 14k to get to gold. So you will actually have to exercise through out the year, not on and off. If you do about 500 points average a week, thats 2 000 points a month, you should reach the 14k then in 7 months. If you got hit by the "up to points", you may need another 2-3 months, which means you should be active for at least 7-10 months of the year. If there are more members on your plan, each member has to do this (me and my SO). If you have kids...that changes things a bit.

14k is 300 pts per week and if only doing gym card swipes then it's 3 visits per week. Pretty rough for those without HRM devices. Of course one could do the park runs each week if so inclined.
The person who goes frequently goes 2.5x a week on avg over 12 months.
So yah, I stand my by what I say.. come June, expect to hear loads of people whine when they realize they can't make up any points and races count for squat so no way to make it unlike other years.. fun times ahead.
Also curious if Discovery lower the required points per year if you join mid year because it's pretty unlikely then.
I'm finding even 200 points a struggle if not doing cardio. Even in my semi-unfit state my HR recovers too quickly, dropping below 70% as soon as I stop the activity for too longYup, 100% spot on - will still be doable - but will have to be consistent - so even when you're sick, you should go to gym![]()
.... side note though, to get the 300 points for a workout - I think they are trying to kill me... I'm relatively fit, and it's no easy to get my heart rate up to that % for that long
