Disney's 'Elemental,' which features 'non-binary' character, flops in opening weekend

How many times have you rewatched it ?
meh actually skipped it because of the magic and going entirely by what I remember of the trailer.

I missed that... will have to check it out, but aren't all Disney/Pixar movies about furries ?
.....only if you chose to interpret it that way.... damn there must be a lot of disney furry fan porn out there now that I think about it.....

If you dislike fantasy and magic then yes this is not a movie for you. Also DnD.

Anthropimophisation feeds into the fandom. This wasn't a movie aimed at the fandom like Zootopia etc..

Turning Red hit well with their target audience. So it did what it wanted to do.

ah, but don't confuse those Chinese propaganda movies with Pixar.

They are worth checking out but mostly to gwawk at their attempt to break into western media.
Check out : Wish Dragon, Over the Moon, Abominable and kung Fu Panda series

Luck looks American though.

Was interesting but no reason to rewatch.
Luck is American. Made by former Pixar employee(s) for Apple TV+

Flopped as marketing was terrible, nothing to do with the non binary thing honestly who cares. Apparently the story isn't bad, on par with other Pixar movies

It's almost as though people are generally not interested in watching movies about narcissistic qausi-religious look-at-me fabricated "identities".

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

Definitely not related to it releasing side by side with The Flash and Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse

Yup,deeeefinitely not

/Sarcasm

Apple will simply bail them out. Who do you think put them back in their place. Pixar got traded to Disney for shares. Then Jobs took control of Disney. They have been closely tied ever since

Steve Jobs is dead and only held a minor baby stake of the company, nothing controlling.

Apple has nothing to do with Disney/Pixar.

The company is mostly Vanguard, Black Rock and Cadbury and other institutional investors and the rest being private individuals.

Quote from Variety.com.

"Over the weekend, “The Flash” suffered a brutal 73% decline in its second weekend with $15.3 million from 4,265 North American theaters. That’s a far bigger drop than recent DC adaptations like “Black Adam” (59%) and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” (69%), which ended up as notable money losers for the studio.

In the case of “The Flash,” it’s a catastrophic result for the $200 million-budgeted tentpole because it signals that ticket sales won’t rebound in its theatrical run. So far, the film has generated a lousy $87 million at the domestic box office and $123.3 million internationally, bringing the worldwide total to $210.9 million."

Ouch.
Guess it will be on the high sees as early as next week.

Definitely not The Flash. If you're not familiar with what's been happening, Ezra Miller - who should probably be in a mental health facility if not a jail cell - done a great job of souring the film's appeal and the film has absolutely tanked at the box office. It represents the death rattle of this incarnation of the DC franchise before Gunn reboots it.

DC as a whole has been a trainwreck, so that film wouldn't have been what Elementals was up against.

Spider-Man, yeah, that would've been a bit of a problem.
