Fireworks are not illegal, stop trying to justify your hate and intolerance behind a law you cannot understand.
Fireworks are legal up to a certain point. Stop trying to justify your law-breaking by obfuscating the issue here. This has sweet buggerall to do with hate or intolerance and it's pretty ironic that you keep spewing that line, considering it's you guys who are being disrespectful to everyone around you.
Prohibited are any fireworks larger than 25mm x 4mm (the so-called 'lady cracker'), anything incorporating uncontrolled flight, Roman candles, any firework not made with 'black powder' and anything that 'makes a bang'.
No person shall use or discharge any explosive, firearm or similar device which emits impulsive sound, or allow it to be used or discharged, if it may cause a noise or nuisance except with the prior consent in writing of the local authority concerned and subject to such conditions as the local authority may deem necessary.
That law sounds pretty clear to me. If you have trouble understanding it, I can try to explain what the term 'makes a bang' means. Just let me know.
You get fireworks that do not make loud explosions. I'm pretty sure those will work just as well in warding off evil spirits, considering it's the festival of LIGHTS and not the festival of massive explosions.
If you want to argue that you shouldn't be restricted to noiseless fireworks on Diwali, you have to ask yourself if your reasons for fireworks are still firmly grounded in religion. Because if you insist on using loud fireworks when noiseless ones are available, then it seems pretty clear that you're not doing it for religious reasons.
