DMCA Takedown Requests Effect Usenet Completion

Astraweb EU is also not bad. Pretty much anything outside the US is OK.

Using more than one provider isn't always the best idea. Like this morning when I used MWEB's server, all my files were incomplete when using Alt.Binz. I had to use just Astraweb to get a successful download :(

In that case, the problem is Altbinz I think. With Sabnzbd, you add one provider as the primary, and add a few more as backup. If it doesn't find articles on the primary, it checks the backup servers for the missing articles. Haven't been affected by the DMCA takedowns since configuring it like so. I use Astraweb as primary, and Newsdemon and Blocknews block accounts as backup.

I use Alt Binz, with Astraweb. Added Blocknews as a secondary backup and haven't had any DMCA issues since.

Also using Blocknews backup account (Newsdemon main) and haven't had one issue since moving from Astra a year ago. Think I've only used like 2gig of the 25gig block account so far.

Oh noez, obscure 1970's tech is no longer working? Guess more people will have to get with the program and use torrents then, where things older than 7 minutes are shared.

Switched to Supernews as soon as I found out that Astraweb has been doing this. If Supernews starts doing the same, I'll have to find someone else. Busy searching for good providers based in the EU that aren't affected by this crap.

My 1970s technology makes it impossible for my downloads to be tracked by anyone but the News provider (SSL), cannot be shaped (tcp port 80 VS UDP for torrents), runs at full line speed (24/7) and doesn't depend "seeders" (1400+ days retention).

I've been at this downloading thing since the late 90s and I've tried all the technologies. NZB and the collection of tools available for it is far superior.

Whatever floats your boat but why even post when you have nothing useful to contribute?

Thus also makes it a prime target for getting your internets disconnected, and then coming onto mybb to complain about how you never violated any conditions, completely ignoring prior bragging about violating the conditions, as you just did, like we see over 9000 times a day.

And as I have said repeatedly, only an idiot downloads torrents directly.

Resurrecting old thread but this has seriously become a problem for me. Anything older than a few days is missing on NewsDemon.

Can anyone recommend a provider that doesn't suffer so much?

Am on NewsDemon and although some stuff has been getting the DMCA treatment, it has calmed down ("tested") TASM Bluray remux 32GB and no issues, will "test" the new Batman too when it comes out ;-)

Uploaders are renaming their files while leaving the par2 to rename back to original but haven't seen many do this. I also noticed some are putting 2+ sample files to block the raw searchers from finding the actual files in there.

I think they only taking it down fast because those filenames are visible for anyone to see as ANYONE can put a request in to remove files. As i said above, uploaders are finding ways to overcome this :) so i would recommend staying with your current provider especially if they are around longer.

i have no problems with newsgroupdirect , though there 7$ dollar unlimited special is done(50 ssl connections and 30gb online storage) , so cant recommend them because its 20 dollars a month now :(

What EU servers are you guys using.
I have newshosting, afrihost and the free xusenet.nl account and some stuff is still failing.

What about EasyNews or UseNetServer?

Haven't seen that happen to anyone besides MWEB clients.

Still using TCP/IP?

so, fired up a download for Gossip Girl S06E07 720p HDTV X264 DIMENSION (dont ask :p) and it failed.

I have a Atraweb account as primary, connected to EU on 443 via SSL. I have a backup account with newsdemon, connected to EU on 80via SSL.

It was almost done (the download), watched it unpack (and fail), NZB sent it back to queue (backup server download) and proceeded to fail again.

sucks.

Plausible punishment for wasting bandwidth.

Did you try manually extracting it? Also, try add it again, might not have been uploaded fully yet.

Please could you advise on the best way to extract manually. If I go into the incomplete folder, and try to right-click extract (with 7-zip) on the main-file-name.RAR it gives me an error. I assume that it would be uploaded 100% by this time, as it was aired over 2 days ago.

I will re-add, and re download for testing purposes after you advise the best way to extract manually. (if it doesnt work)

used this and it dont work matey
