Is this a yes/no or either/or or regularly/rarely question? I don't know how to respond to this.

Yes the cloud.

Photos = Google Photos (free version)
Mail = Inbox/Gmail
Contacts = Google Contacts
Books = Google play books (1gig free)
Video = YouTube
Music = Google play music (50 000 songs free)
Bookmarks and passwords = Chrome sync
Docs and other stuff = Drive (docs in Google format use no space)
etc.

Yes - daily using Windows Home Server

Of course. Full system backup including OS, apps, VMs, configs and all files. Bare metal restore in minutes, if needed. Multiple locations, so no single point of failure.

Yes

Data = 1. Physical External HDD 2. Google Drive
Photos = Facebook

Yes, FBackup to a local backup server. Also use Mailstore to backup my mails from the cloud to local storage.
Google drive for docs.

Need to look into Music. Just got a Samsing 8 and read somewhere you can backup 100 000 songs for free.

One crash ... lost data .... or stolen laptop ..... lesson learnt .... answer is usually YES (I hope)
