Do you believe in Cell C?

100 base stations a month, or not. I'm not going back !
I've made my peace with 'dropped calls' and I've moved on.

TBH my data is working a lot better these days (in GP), but calls still take ages to setup, however when I was in Stellenbosh and the surrounding areas this past week I had HSDPA 99% of the time, Data Worked 100% of the time and calls setup faster than usual

its time cell works on improving network quality by putting up more base stations

More base stations won't necessarily improve network quality.
I get CellC voice coverage most of the time but often no data connection (even when 3G/HSDPA is showing) which suggests that the back haul network infrastructure needs fixing or upgrading.

I finally got a cell c guy out to my home in Brackendowns, Alberton thanks to the mybroadband forums, he battled to connect and after half an hour the decision was made to install a booster as I was in a dead spot. I ask when, he said they are all out of stock and they don't know when they are getting them. He also said there is a new tower installed which is going to help a lot, I asked when is it going live, he said he did not know. It's been a week now, but with a lot of 'I don't knows' I don't think anything is going to happen soon. I roam on vodacom, where the signal is not a lot better but better.

Not enough for me to take a 24 month contract with them

It is because it is Western Cape. Things work better there in general. ;)

You don't have to. Month-to-month cost the same as long term and it is cheaper to buy your phone cash. CellC's contracts are streets ahead of the others, not to mention rates.

We are giving back to the very people that made this happen...
[marketspeak irritation]Interesting concept that. Very people. [/marketspeak irritation]

hmmm... this reminds me of the past 20 years of Vodacom ads, the vast majority of which have nothing to do with being a cellular network.
It's almost like the Vodacom people are now at CellC.

oh, wait...

I believe that driving across the barrier line before a bend is just stupid, even if it is in an advert.

I wonder whether this can be taken to the ASA?

No freakin way! CellC sucks, bunch of bull****ters. Like I said before, it was the biggest mistake of my life to port from VC to CellC. After signing up I discovered to my dismay that there's no stable CellC signal where I live. Calls drop consistently after a few seconds & sometimes my phone's just isolated until I realise it hours later and people tell me could not reach me. Even my alarm monitoring company was unable to reach me a few times
I complained here on myBB, and about 6 months ago CellC promised me they were in the process of installing a base station in the area where I live but it would take approx 2 months to complete. I'm still @$3**&*%#3%@^* waiting! And no feedback given.
When I get home every afternoon, I have to manually switch over to Vodacom to use the phone, but then I'm restricted to torturously slow internet.
What the heck happened to that freakin new tower CellC?

bought 3 cell c sims for my devices just yesterday

So CellC phoned me yestereday to address my compliant on Hellopeter where I said I cant phone out, receive calls, use data etc. So I told them its sorted! Cancelled my CONtract ages ago(I think about 6 months ago) and now with VodaCON. Altough I'm paying more, I can ACTUALLY MAKE CALLS and RECEIVE CALLS and USE DATA!!! The voice quality is also MUCH better on vodacon, I dont have to ask the people to repeat what they said 4 times due to CELLC's 1/8voice data rate. The screw up is 2 of my friends are on 24months contracts with cellc and sort of can't cancel. The downside of this is that its impossible to call them/chat to them via data service as they never receive anything. LOL

the way you've typed that, i've read like it was through gritted teeth. sorry bro.

i have a work blackberry. crippled to hell by work it policy. it has the best coverage everywhere.

within sandton where i work, cell c still surpasses my mtn experience many times over. and i reckon i'm on 3g/hsdpa for 90%+ of
the time

at home i am on wifi. but i do not think i have ever seen any device below 3g.

but i understand that when i leave the confines of the city, i am at the whim of vodacom's edge. and even then i have had quite good experiences of late with navigation. while roaming on vodacom.

I 'believe' CELL C are brainwashing consumers on their TV advert you don't see no information what #believe is all about! I do #believe Justin will come to South Africa again :P hahaha

Cell c stole my money... Gave me. Git one of the data deals.. Paid them full and now months later sim nr 4 ir 5 still doesn't work. Cell c just ignores me and closes service calls. Sim shows full bars 3g but doesnt work.
