I was ask to join a blood donation committee. They say people are not given enough blood and we must think of plans to get people to start to donate and on a regular basis. I do give every 56 days. I know Jehowa witnesses are not allow to donate, but wonder if muslims are allow to give.

I'm not allowed to give for life because I've had a blood cancer.

However, I did need several times transfusions and platelets given to me in the past year and sometimes there were shortages so thanks to all the brave donors.

Yes I do, just over a 100 pints. Missed a lot in my 20's, due to.......well, being young and thirsty

I’m a regular blood donor.
Give a 6 pack of free beer and more people will come.

I donated for the first time a few months ago. The people haven't been back yet. I'll go again when they come

That's the thing, they sell those pints they get off of us, for a pretty penny. Yet, they give us two cookies and a baby size juice box. No wonder people don't feel motivated. In other countries, they pay the donor. They pay, they get more people.
Me, I don't care about the money, but they can give more cookies. Maybe some edibles.

we are not only allowed to but actively encouraged to donate blood

Unfortunately no, then again I do drink most day's and smoke so I probably don't have the cleanest blood in the world.

Also I find the idea of having someone else's blood in me very disturbing for some reason

I have O- blood so I feel obligated to donate. I do it regularly.

I'm not sure how to encourage more people to do it though, most people I speak to seem a bit indifferent.

Used to when I was younger, nowadays I'm a recipient..

I did in my younger days, got to 52 units before I was 30, I think I've donated once since then as they really really hurt me.

The tests they do on the blood isn't free and a lot of the blood they get doesn't end up going to another human, it's used for testing.
