do you donate blood?

One thing I don't understand is how you can be one day too soon for donating, they could surely relax it to the closest weekend.

Where I donate the tent comes on a Friday (sometimes) and a Saturday and Sunday. I work on weekends and plan things fairly carefully but have been turned back twice for being "One day too soon".
 
Yes. I started back in Grade 10 more than 10 years ago as a means of getting some free time from classes when they came to school and asked us to donate.

Last time was in December and I actually ended up fainting in the shopping mall after donating. Apparently it happens quite often and fortunately it was a soft fall.

I've been getting calls everyday from the blood service for like 2 months now. I've blacklisted some of their numbers.

Almost my story, I donated from grade 10 till I was 32 so 16 years, but the last time I donated it hurt like the worst it ever hurt like searing pain up my arm right down my leg.
I've also fainted once when I was 25, luckily the person on the escalator was big enough to catch me and helped me back to the bank.
I think after 52 donations and the dinner I went to for reaching that number at such a young age I gave enough.

We are really lucky it happened in the right place. With a bit of bad luck, we could have had Michael Schumacher like accidents.

I've donated many times and probably will again eventually. I just remind myself that someone close might need it.

I've tried but with the scar tissue on my arms it got harder and harder, think that's why it hurt so much the last time, so for 8 years I've not donated.

You are supposed to alternate your hands.

I had a similar issue once becuase I kept using one arm. Eventually, I stopped donating for a year or two and it was alright again.

I have, but I only had one vein on each arm, after 26 on each arm :(
 
Well I donated 74 units before I stopped donating more than 20 years ago. Since they started doing a phlebotomy, which is a fancy name for drawing 500ml of blood to control my high haemoglobin count , I have donated another 19 units of blood to the incinerator. This is such a waste because some one could have benefited from the blood. This is apart from the fact that It cost me R700 each time for the treatment.

I found that in the afternoons I am too tired, or lazy or the wind is too strong. So starting in February I shifted to morning rides. My new "commute" is a lap around Simonsberg.
 
They called me again today to donate during the week from 11:00 -17:00. They can't even try and push it for 17:30 lol
