bruh, I'd drink water straight from the sewer if that was all on offer, didn't get my ironclad stomach by playing it safe, train your bodies to evolve!

also: yes I drink municipal water straight from the tap, hell even when it comes out brown after they fixed a water pipe burst in the area, what does not kill you makes you stronger ... drank tap water in every country I've visited as well, never had an issue, Namibia has some salty ass tap water though!

I quite like the difference in taste going from one town to another.

As a kid growing up on a farm outside Stellenbosch I disliked the taste of the water at school (Jonkerhoek water) VS the "drink water" we got on the farm (Steenbras water). We called tap water "drink water" on the farm to decern it from normal dam water, although I did drink that too.

At the holiday house on the west coast we get Bergrivier water which has a more sand like taste, I loved it, yet when I took my wife there for the first time she insisted on bottled water. She has in the 20 years since come round to drinking it.

Going to Karoo towns is always fun, for example places like Sutherland or Willowmore has much brackish tasting water as opposed to other towns like Oudtshoorn, purely due to how their water is sourced.

Also as a kid I remember I preferred the Newlands water at my one aunt's place over the Kuilsriver water at my other aunt's house. Then there was other family we visited in Bonnivale who to this day have to save rainwater to drink as their regular supply is a canal straight from the Breeriver.

Try tap water - it's part of traveling.

No ways. Except for making pasta or coffee/ tea. Otherwise bottled water only. With loadshedding, anc running water treatment infrastructure and everything else into shitscreek...ain't taking chances!

Hell no! I have an RO system with 7 filters. You cannot compare tap water with the RO water, in fact I want to get an RO system installed in my bathroom as well so I can have one in the Kitchen and one in the bathroom.

Never felt like I can't trust CoCT water. Been drinking it for years. No trouble so far.

The idea of not being able to drink the tap water seems so foreign to me. Must be some seriously badly run municipalities to get to that point.

They have a 98% rating. I drank for years COCT water until I got some of that 2%.

It is relatively cheap problem to avoid.
