Poll please.

1. Yes.
2. No
3. Other form of company perk

I thought they were two seperate things. Bonus you get once off and is performance based, 13th cheque is either on your birthday or at year end or divided in 12 and added to your salary each month.

Someone turn this into a poll please. Would be interesting to see how companies in SA sees this.

13th cheque yes, but salary is so low, I get it as part of my salary every month.
Bonus, depending on company's performance, company not performing, so no bonus

Yes for the first time in 5 years working at current company.

Hah. I work for a stingy bunch of bastards. Only those employees who score max on their performance reviews receive a bonus. So far I've been lucky to get a bonus every year but it's hardly enough to do anything meaningful with. Oh and they made it clear no-one's getting a bonus this year. :(

13th cheque.

I have the option of getting it at the end of the year, but prefer to have it divided into 12 and paid out every month.

They explained to us that if we pick the lump sum at the end of the year, they wouldn't earn interest on our money (for some or other reason that I can't remember, but think has to do with the balance sheet or something) but I'm still not comfortable with that idea. :)

If you pick the lump sum, YOU don't earn interest - that's what counts.

But then it's easier to manage a budget. I'd definitely prefer that. If ever I cut the budget too close I can expect the bonus to save me. Not true if it's split per month.
